LG Electronics 55LE8500 55-Inch LCD TV

(Editor's note: This review of the LG LE8500 series is based on our hands-on testing and evaluation of the 47-inch 47LE8500. According to the manufacturer, the image quality and features should be equivalent for each TV in this model line.)

Full-array LED backlight ; 240Hz refresh rate ; Handsome set with good image quality and audio

Pricey for its screen-size class ; Very little printed documentation

The LG Infinia LE8500 Series looks good and delivers a slew of customization options, plus great Internet content--but image quality isn't great, and this HDTV is expensive.

LG Electronics Infinia 47LE8500 47-Inch LCD TV

With its skinny profile and strong lineup of features, the LG Infinia 47LE8500 certainly qualifies as a chic, connected HDTV. Slightly more than an inch thick, this 47-inch full-array backlit LED TV packs a good collection of Internet services...

LG Infinia LE8500 review: LG Infinia LE8500

LG Infinia LE8500

Produces among the deepest shades of black of any TV; superb shadow detail; exceedingly accurate color; better off-angle viewing than many LCDs; controls local dimming "blooming" well; plenty of streaming and interactive features; extensive picture...

Expensive; uneven backlight uniformity; adjustable dejudder doesn't work well; subpar bright-room performance; benefits of 240Hz difficult to discern; some stray illumination and uniformity issues.

With the excellent picture quality of the local-dimming LE8500, LG challenges other LCD makers for videophile appeal.

LG 55LE8500 LED LCD HDTV First Impressions Review - Intro

The LG 55LE8500 is a 55-inch LED edge-lit LCD television. Positioned as the second-highest teir series, the LE85000s are likely to be strong performers, but they lack the 3D bells and whistles of the LE9500 series. Are we still supposed to get excited...

The 55LG8500 is a solid TV, at least based on the time we spent with it and its specs sheets. The series doesn't have a direct ancestor, but we reviewed the similar 47LH90 in 2009, and found it to be satisfactory, if a little pricey. The increased...

Review: LG Infinia 47LE8500

The LG Infinia 47LE8500 looks good and delivers a slew of customization options, plus great Internet content--but image quality isn't great, and this HDTV is expensive.

But at a recommended price of $2000 (as of August 8, 2010), the Infinia 47LE8500 costs more than most competitors in its screen-size class

LG Infinia 47LE8500 LCD HDTV

Although 3D is about to make a loud buzz in the HDTV world, most current sets aren't ready for the 3D gravy train yet. The top-of-the-line LG Infinia LX9500 series will be 3D capable. At one step down in LG's lineup is the solidly 2D Infinia 47LE8500...
