LG 42LF66 42in LCD TV

LG brings a 42in 1080p LCD TV in at under £1,000. But can it compete with the stiff competition?

LG 42LF66 review

LG's latest LCD certainly looks the business, but can it deliver on pictures?

Rich colours ; Plenty of features ; Sharp HD

Black levels could be better ; Noisy SD pictures

A very eye-catching performer, which is unfortunately not an especially good one

LG 50LF652V review

A good-value smart TV, but image quality quibbles limit its appeal to less fussy buyers

The LG 50LF652V isn't perfect, and its image enhancement and de-judder quibbles are minor annoyances. However, as is so often the case with TVs at this price, it's still a reasonably decent set for the money. Not one for cinephiles, but it's more than...

If you're happy to stick with HD rather than 4K ultra HD, you could bag yourself a good-sized screen at a great price - the LG 55LF652V, for example. You'll enjoy crisp HD TV pictures on this TV, but is it good enough overall to be worth buying? Read...

LG 42LF66

It's taken longer than expected, but LG's first full HD LCD TV is finally here in the shape of the 42LF66. And a very comely shape it is too, with its unusually slender chassis and high-gloss black finish working wonders on any living room.

Dazzling colours, full HD resolution, extreme HD sharpness, fair price

Black level issues, noisy standard definition pictures

LG 42LF65 Review - XD Engine 42" 1080p HD LCD TV Test

Despite some aggressive branding exercise recently (LG Prada mobile phone anyone?), as a consumer electronics conglomerate LG has found it difficult to shake off its budget image: one who delivers more "value-for-money" than actual quality

Very good film and video deinterlacing powered by Faroudja DCDi ; Accurate colour decoding without colour push ; D65 greyscale calibration possible through user menu ; 1:1 pixel mapping possible over HDMI ; 2 independent memory settings per input...

Below average black level resulting in compressed contrast ratio ; No backlight control ; Judder present when fed with 1080p/24 PS3 signal ; Slightly more motion ghosting compared to recent LCDs ; Ineffective baseline and incremental digital noise...

I find it difficult to recommend the LG 42LF65. Sure it has its merits, among which its outstanding Faroudja-driven deinterlacing, accurate colour decoding, and a host of user menu options that makes D65 greyscale calibration easy. But it is utterly...
