LG announces flagship 4K LCD display

LG will be displaying its flagship 4K LCD television -- the UB9800 series -- in four sizes that top out at a massive 98 inches at this week's CES in Las Vegas.

LG UB9800 UltraHD TV Review: This Picture's Not Worth the Price

The march of progress moves to the beat of early adopters patting their wallets and chanting, "shut up and take my money." Unfortunately, LG's latest high-end offering can't seem to keep up with its price tag.

LG 65UB980T 65in Ultra HD smart TV

LG's 65in, 4K TV is a stunner, but it can be hard to find 4K content to really make it shine

4K content looks stunning ; Easy to use webOS smart TV interface ; Good overall smart TV functions

Can be hard to obtain 4K content ; No conventional remote control ; Online streams can look noticeably blocky

LG's 65-incher is currently one of the better value 4K screens on the market, and suitable for those of you who want to invest early in the latest TV tech. Its webOS interface is a cinch to use, and the picture quality is rich and detailed, especially...

LG 65UB980V

LG's flagship LCD TV for 2014 proves a pleasant surprise

Stunning sound quality ; Arguably the best 3D picture quality ever ; 2D pictures look good too if you set the TV up right

IPS Panel means native contrast isn't the best ; Local dimming & dynamic backlight tools sometimes look too obvious ; Input lag a bit high for serious gaming

A more surprising discovery was that we didn’t always get on with the Super Resolution option. With upscaled content on all but its lowest setting it causes areas of fine detail in upscaled HD pictures to fizz quite distractingly. Still, as we'll...

LG 65UB980V review

A fine TV, but bettered by less-expensive rivals and suffers from a few niggles

webOS is the friendliest, most fun OS yet 4K looks great Solid, weighty sound Striking looks Magic Remote is great

Even bigger than it needs to be Currently plenty of niggles with webOS The Samsung UE65HU7500

There’s a lot to really like here, and while there are flaws in the webOS, we’re still excited by it and convinced that LG is going to improve it to tap its full potential. There’s a bigger problem for the 65UB980V though – and it’s the Samsung...

LG 65UB980V review

LG has had a topsy-turvy year in TV. On the upside, the brand's taken the Smart TV world by storm with its WebOS interface. On the downside, it's struggled to keep up with some rivals on the picture quality front.

Awesome 3D picture quality; spectacular audio; WebOS interface is brilliant; good 2D image quality

Black levels not as deep as some; occasional traces of backlight ‘blocking’; no 4OD or ITV catch-up apps

LG UB980T UltraHD TV Review: This Picture's Not Worth The Price

The march of progress moves to the beat of early adopters patting their wallets and chanting, “shut up and take my money”. Unfortunately, LG's latest high-end offering can't seem to keep up with its price tag.

You can do better, at least until 4K comes into its own because, at this point, you’re still going to be watching a vast majority of your content in regular HD. While the UHD resolution jump is certainly coming, it’s just still a bit early to be...
