Panasonic TC-P50U1

If you're in the market for a full HD large screen HDTV, it's hard to beat the current street price of the TC-P50U1. You probably won't find a better price on a 50" unit, and it has most of the features you're likely to need. As long as Internet...

Panasonic TC-P50U1 Plasma HDTV Review - Intro

The Panasonic TC-P50U1 is a pretty basic model, at least as basic as they come in the 50-inch plasma category (that's a lot of screen real estate, mind you). Skipping the fancy, and frequently pointless, special processing features, Panasonic has made...

The Panasonic TC-P50U1 is a good, but not outstanding, television. On the plus side, we loved the deep blacks and wide viewing angle that the Panasonic could produce. However, it failed to produce sufficiently bright whites and there were noticeable...

Fancy (and frequently pointless) special processing features aside, acceptable performance for a decent price.

Panasonic VIERA 50" 1080p 600Hz Plasma HDTV TC-P50U1

Heard back from Panasonic, and if you're impacted by the lightening black levels, don't expect a fix. The company has deemed this adjustment to be a typical response to the set reaching a certain stage of its lifespan. As a result of this response.

Hello, I just purchased this from Newegg, and after I read the reviews here I ordered it, later that day I was searching for info on it and came across this ; NEWEGG IS GREAT

Search for "Why are black levels changing for the worse on Panasonic's plasma" we NEED to call Panasonic and tell them to FIX and repair this issue, after reading the post from CNet Panasonic WILL NOT FIX this isssue, I was shocked to read that from a...

Love it!

Great image. HDMI works as expected. SD card reader option is nice for parties. No dead pixels, nice stand

I swore the glare would not bother me. But sadly I had to change the room layout for the TV. It was well worth it for the picture quality. Pick this over a LCD if it's in a basement . If it's facing a larger picture window that you want to keep open...

Excellent TV for the price!

Haven't noticed the "heat issue" that everyone says is inherent with plasmas. So far, it doesn't seem any hotter than my old 42" was.

Great picture quality, good price, a great upgrade from my 7 year old 42" LCD that I had (occupies the same footprint as my original did), easy to set up and integrated well with all my components

Really, I haven't had any negative issues that I've noticed. I'm not some super videophile, though, just a guy who appreciates a good picture quality

Good TV

Bought this about 8 months ago from Best Buy and even got it color calibrated. Love watching Planet Earth on it. :)

Nice picture and sound. Panasonic makes good panels

Screen is very reflective, but that comes with the territory

Near 5 Star

Would've given 5 stars without the sound issue, it dumbs any sound input through hdmi to stereo, so extra cables are needed for a receiver.

Great picture if you make sure to tweak the settings. Tons of inputs. Great off-angle viewing

No VGA. It does not forward 5.1 surround sound through the Toslink out. No anti-glare (but it's not terrible)

Wow

The prices on LCDs have been dropping recently. I suspect if I had waited I might have been able to get a bigger TV for similar prices, but with electronics you pretty much just have to know that whatever you buy will be outdated within six months. I...

Great picture at a great price. I paid $899 while this was on sale with free shipping. Arrived in like a week. Very impressed with the picture quality, I was looking at the G model and as far as I could tell the only difference between this and the G...

The glare is bad if you have a window behind where you are watching the TV from. Luckily I just had to rearrange my room so that there is not a natural light source behind where I was sitting to view the TV. I have a pretty dark living room even in the...

Homerun

This TV is alot heavier than I had expected I am not mounting mine on the wall but if i was I would make sure your mounts can handle this bad boy.

Good Blacks, Very clear vivid picture, Easy to set up, Looks absolutely amazing with Blue-ray Player, Love the Viera link, SD Card slot, Lots of video imports, 3 HDMI ports. I ordered the TV on Monday morning and received it on Wednesday before noon....

No VGA port but luckily my video card also has a HDMI hookup, would much rather use that to my regular monitor but it truly wasn't a big deal at all
