Panasonic Viera TH-PZ800U review: Panasonic Viera TH-PZ800U

Panasonic Viera TH-PZ800U

Reproduces deep black levels and highly accurate color; excellent uniformity compared with rear-projection models; THX mode delivers accurate settings without calibration; relatively effective antireflective screen; solid connectivity with four HDMI...

Expensive; blacks not quite as deep as the best plasmas; optional 24p mode introduces flicker; fewer picture controls than most HDTVs.

The 58-inch TH-58PZ800U carries a big price tag compared with rear-projection alternatives, but its superb picture quality heightens its appeal.

Panasonic TH-58PZ800U Review: 58-inch Plasma HDTV

For video game junkies, it has a game mode auto-adjust image quality suitable to games which includes an anti-image retention. With TH-56PZ800U, Panasonic introduces 24p native resolution, which means 24 frames per second movie content is reproduced...

The only downside of Panasonic TH-58PZ800U is its price. For HDTV range it’s a bit overpriced, but then with so many newly available features, it’s worth the money.

Panasonic TH-58PZ800 review

Big, punchy and exciting pictures with most discs ; excellent tuner ; well equipped

Only that the similarly priced Pioneer is even better

A good big-screen plasma, and well worth an audition – although we'd be sure to try out its key rival too

Upgraded to 58 Inch

Note that the included table stand on this 58 inch model does NOT swivel like the 50 inch model. I got around this by buying a sturdy swivel stand that I placed underneath the included fixed stand. Works great!

This is my second Panasonic plasma. I bought the 50 inch ; TH50PZ800U last August and it's performance has been ; outstanding. So, upgrading to the 58 inch was no brainer ; As far as I can tell, this series is no longer in production, and will soon...

None I can think of, except as noted elsewhere, this set is ; very heavy. Be sure to have one or two strong helpers to ; set it up

Gorgeous Picture

As an afterthought, I really like the Panasonics with the Vierra Cast technology. It lets you enjoy online content. If you are looking for that feature, without connecting a PC, then this TV is not for you.

This picture is phenomenal! You can especially tell with a HDMI cable that has 1080p quality. I love how you can hook up a PC and use as a monitor. Connections and assembly were simple

It is heavy and you will need two people to assemble and lift

Amazing

I have this plasma in my basement, in a light controlled environment. Even so, I don't think glare would be an issue in a sun lit room.

Beautiful picture. sharp looking even when off. No dead or stuck pixels. Plenty of HDMI and Component inputs. Still has an S-Video input for your old VCR or camcorder. This set keeps getting better every time I watch it. the NBA and NHL playoffs are...

No cons for the TV. AIT delivery was on time and brought the TV inside my front door, with my help. I asked the driver to wait 5 minutes for me to inspect the set, but he refused (politely). Fortunately, the Plasma was perfect, I would have been very...

AWESOME TV

You will need to tweak the settings that it is shipped from the factory with. The factory standard setting will not be bright enough for a well lit room. There are very good settings posted on the AVS Forum Titled for this specific TV. Poke around in...

Picture Quality is unmatched in this price range. This TV displays HD images so sharp that it is difficult to switch back to normal Digital TV. It's like when DVD first arrived, & you just couldn't watch your old VCR tapes anymore. You won't want to...

Well worth the price!

This thing is a BEAST! very heavy. mounting it on the wall was a good amount of work, but once it was up it changed the way my living rooom looked. (for the better)

My wife suprised me with this last june and boy I was suprised. The picture was incredible. Xbox360 games looked unreal, and blue-ray movies are insane. This replaced my DLP projector and even though the screen is smaller, its well worth it for the...

I wish it had one more HDMI port and that the remote had more options, but other than that I have no complaints.
