Panasonic TX-P50ST30 review

Strong performance in every area bar sound ; the price/screen-size ratio is good

Robust competition from within the family ; not the most handsome device

Impeccable big-screen performance at an eye-catching price

Panasonic TX-P50ST30

Whether or not you've been impressed by 3D enough to have it at home, would you seriously consider buying a big, expensive TV that couldn't flirt with the third dimension at all? If you can't decide if 3D is for you or not, Panasonic's latest giant...

Freeview HD tuner, great with SD as well as HD, colour, contrast

No home networking or Freesat HD tuner, lacks ultimate hi-def detail, no 3D glasses included

If you can't decide if 3D is for you or not, Panasonic’s latest giant plasma is the ideal starting point. While you save up for 3D specs, the ST30 will wow you with colourful, and sharp images from Blu-ray, Freeview HD and digital files via USB.

Panasonic TX-P50ST30B review

A decent 50-inch 2D plasma TV that can be upgraded to 3D later

Clean, involving 2D images ; Built-in 3D transmitter ; Excellent 3D images ; Clean pictures from all sources ; Viera Connect hub improved ; 2D-3D conversion option

Drab Freeview EPG ; 3D specs cost extra ; Lacks some home cinema settings ; No DLNA streaming

That a 50-inch, 3D-ready plasma TV originally on sale for over £1500 can now be had with over a third off is proof of how short-lived a fillip the third dimension has given TV sales, but there's a big reason why the Panasonic TX-P50ST30B can be had for...

Panasonic Viera TX-P50ST30b review

You might expect a 50-inch 3D plasma set from a respected manufacturer to put on a great show. In that regard, however, the Panasonic TX-P50ST30b might disappoint you. Sure, it has all the right features - Wi-Fi, a generous selection of internet feeds,...

Panasonic got a lot right when it designed the TX-P50ST30b. Unfortunately, the image quality wasn't one of those things. The picture isn't awful, but it should be better.

Stunning black levels and useful internet TV functions make this a fantastic mid-range 3DTV, although the next model up is better value.

Panasonic TX-P50ST30B

lovely looking tv, easy to set up, it tunes itself in, takes about 10 mins. Picture quality is excellent, haven't used any of the Internet etc yet but it all seems very easy to set up and use so far.

Sound quality was poor until we bought the surround sound package but we were told that the sound suffers the thinner the TV gets so no great surprise. Not too pricey to buy a sound pack with blu ray player and sound now in excellent!

Panasonic TX-P50ST30B

Good Value. Does everything. Reliable. Good brand. Very clear picture. Great for movies.

It is a bit tricky to connect to the internet. Its better to speak to someone about the correct dongles or connections required.
