Panasonic Viera TC-PG25 review

A lot has changed since we gave the Panasonic TC-P50V10 our Editors' Choice award last year. The most relevant to the review you're reading now can be summed up with the eminently Google-able phrase "Panasonic black levels." The short story? Testing...

Superb black-level performance; accurate primary colors in THX mode; great color saturation; effective antireflective screen; uses less power than previous 1080p plasmas; VieraCast provides access to select Internet services and improved customization.

Last year's Panasonic plasmas lost black-level performance over relatively short periods of time; cannot properly handle 1080p/24 sources; fewer streaming services and apps than the competition; uses more power than LCDs.

Panasonic's TC-PG20/25 series offers a highly tempting mix of features, value, and initial picture quality, but long-term black-level performance is still an open question.

My Panasonic Viera broke 2 days after waretny ended.

OK bad luck NO! I am a industrail controls technican and trouble shoot issue and found that boards I need to fix the issue are all sold out on all parts website. Obviously this is an issue a one year old TV and can not get Panasonic to fix it and can...

Great TV if it worked.

Panasonic must know about this issue and that must be why they are giving me the run around. Buy a Sony.

"Dead in 30 months"

I will never, ever buy another Panasonic product of any kind.

When it worked, it worked well.

WEnt from $1200+ tv to being a doorstop in 30 months

"Vertical Blacklines appeared on screen in 2 years."

I didn't expect a TV will go bad in 2 years. I bought it because of the good reviews. CNET don't review pruduct for their durability I guess.

A average TV if the screen didn't go bad.

Screen goes bad too quickly. It seems a common problem with this kind of TV.

Great TV until it died!

I love the set, but reliability is apparently a big problem with Panasonic plasmas. I'm very disapointed.

Fantastic image, no complaints. The speakers are as good as something that small can be.

27 months, turned the set off to leave for work, and noticed the 'blinking Red lamp' (4 times). It's at the local repair shop. I'm loosening up to 'assume the position'.

"Dont buy this TV or any Panasonic"

Within months of ownership (So, inside the warranty period), I got the blinking red light of death. Since it's 42" they won't come to your place, you have to lug this 80 pound television to them. Panasonic considers this "portable." So find the biggest...

Fine, when it isn't broken

died twice in 2 years, which is all the cons anyone needs to stay far away.

"Viera TC-P54G25"

Recommend filing a complaint with your State Attorneys General on this. This product may be a "Lemon" under State Lemon Laws. I purchased this Panasonic HDTV TC-P54G25 in 03/2011. Been working fine for past 13 months...then today (06/15) while watching...

Worked fine for 14 months

Panasonic customer service, response time, product planned obsolescence (seems like many users have problems with this product within 15 months of purchase)

I love this TV!

I set up my TC-P46G25 with the excellent default THX settings and haven't been able to improve upon those in two years. Have not noticed any black issues that were noted in the review. TV is connected to a PS3 Slim and an older Samsung HTIB via HDMI...
