Philips 46PFL8007

Philips returns to the TV fray in spectacular fashion with this high-end LED offering.

Sensational 2D picture quality ; Excellent backlight control ; Good remote control design

Not quite as cheap as we'd like ; Requires care with its picture settings ; Crosstalk with 3D

There are one or two innovations to be found in Philips’ online offering. For instance, the set’s Twitter app can automatically use metadata sent with the TV programme you’re watching to track down any ‘#’ threads associated with it. It’s also great to...

Philips 46PFL8007 review

A strong start for Philips' new TV range

Lovely styling ; Natural, balanced pictures ; Strong motion control with 2D ; Smart features

Can artificially lighten darker scenes ; Lacks the razor sharpness and fine detail of the best

It might not be the very best in its class, but the 46PFL8007 represents a strong start for Philips' new TV range. We're looking forward to seeing what's coming next

Philips 46PFL8007 review

Philips TVs are back and looking very good

Lovely design ; Outstanding picture quality ; Superb audio quality ; Good multimedia support

Limited online services ; Complex to use ; Some 3D crosstalk ; Input lag slightly high

After seemingly forever, the negotiations between Philips and Chinese TV manufacturer TPV Technology are finally concluded, and the resulting TP Vision joint venture has at last borne serious new fruit in the shape of a big new Philips TV range.

Philips 46PFL8007 8000 Series TV

The landscape of TVs has thinned in recent years - and we don't mean the shrinking bezels and ever more slender panels. Pioneer vanished from the fold yonks back and Philips announced in January that it was to stop making its TVs and turn over...

Ambilight technology looks great, super sharp picture, lots of advanced manual control settings including ISF presets and intricate adjustments across the board, picture quality is good (especially after tinkering with settings), thin bezel, great...

Picture uniformity won't match 9000 series due to some light peaks from edge-LED lights which is a shame, it's pricey for a 46-incher, lacks Netflix and a variety of other apps in the Smart TV, occasional online time-outs can't be exited easily,...

As a "smart" TV the Philips 8000 series 46PFL8007 may lack a larger selection of - what we'd imagine are little-used - apps, but aside from the lack of Netflix we almost don't care.
