Philips 42PFP5332D: Affordable Plasma High Definition Viewing

The Philips 42PFP5332D is a decent 42-inch high definition plasma television for the price. It is not a high-end ultra-technology-packed model, but it delivers a great plasma high definition picture and performs as well as many of its competitors

Philips 42PFP5332D/37 42-Inch Plasma HDTV Review and Prices

Less than a decade ago, a 42-inch plasma TV cost as much as $15,000. What a difference a decade makes, as today the Philips 42PFP5332D/37 can be found online for less than $1,300. This may not be the most state-of-the-art HDTV, but it still does a fine...

Handles standard-definition content very well, USB connectivity, strong audio system, great price for the features offered

Only 720p resolution, limited to two HDMI inputs, relatively poor viewing angles

Consumer review (newegg.com)

The price is right, but it will now wow you.

If you want a basic big tv with a relatively great picture, you will be happy with this investment. If you want to be dazzled put up a few hundred more dollars. If you want to be safe, get a Samsung.

First of all, Standard Def looks better on this tv than most $3000 sets. The sound quality is also good. Standard 480p dvd's look very clear. Hd performance is nice, but it will not blow you away. It produces nice blacks and with some tweaking it will...

Contrast could be better. You don't get much detail out of dark scenes. The scaling on this tv is annoying. At closer distances artifacts are extremely obvious, more so than higher quality sets. It will often stretch the image off the screen or make it...

Great TV

I highly recommend this TV. It's price makes it an excelent deal out of the size and quality.

The initial setup of the TV is very user friendly, no need of technical knowledge to configure the the best picture you can get from this unit. I love the ASCII TV tuner. I can get some extra channels from digital signals and local HDTV channels as...

The output audio is AV instead of regular RCAs. That's a little off the universal audio inputs from home theatre units so I had to buy an extra adapter. Shipping people not good in my area, the driver did not want to wait for me to check the unit in...

50 Inch Plasma

It was at my door within 3 business days. It was in excellent shape. Quite pleased with this purchase.

I felt that the TV was all that I expected. It was very easy to put together and get running. The picture was very good and the speakers were the best I have had from a TV. I really thought this product was a great buy for what I paid.

None!!

Satisfied

I love this freakin' TV. I paid Approx. 1,300 bucks (shipping included) I thought this was going to be a disaster. I never got my tracking number to work, then when it showed up, it was in a van with a 80 year old woman trying to wrestle it out. I gave...

(Owned for approx. 1 Mo.) The picture is at many times stunning. DVD(esp. HD/BLU) playback is flawless. Screen is bright(without being overpowering) and contrast is a definate 8/10. Renders dynamic pictures well without the 'blurring' effect. And has...

The black trim(not the casing for the screen, but the black trim intergrated ON the screen) is extremely easy to scratch, I rubbed it with a napkin to remove a fingerprint and was instead repaid with a horrid series of scratches. Also on programming...

This TV

Exceptional value

Great high definition picture, stunning looks and terrific value. The audio is ok and serves its purpose.

Heavier than LCD TVs but lighter than my old 36"" CRT.

Can't Be Happier!

FOr the Price, you will not find a better picture! Even if you spend a few hundred dollars more!

Simply Put Awesome TV! Even at 50 Contrast, and color, (Recommended For first 200 hours on Ploasmas) Still a Very Stunning picture! Audio was aslo Good to Excellent! Rivaled my older 36"" Sony XBR CRT. Simple setup and the base is beauiful!, although I...

Hmm The only thing I can think of is the Menu system is a little spartan in features, and the Picture does not format properly on The Science Channel leaving Black bars on the side, plus when you Stop a DVD then resume it from an Upconvert DVD player,...
