Pioneer Pioneer PDP-5010FD

Pioneer's Kuro PDP-5010FD HDTV produced marvelous images, with deep blacks, in our tests, but this 50-inch plasma set is pricey at $4500.

Excellent speakers ; Built-in TV Guide

No cable management ; No RGB controls

This very expensive plasma HDTV shows good color reproduction and strong picture detail, and it has great built-in speakers.

Pioneer PDP-5060HD

The Pioneer PDP-5060HD has an attractive design, a great picture, and Pioneer's lowest price yet on a 50-inch plasma television.

Pleasingly natural picture quality. Good performance with standard or high-definition video sources.

Using the HDMI input disables component video input. Slightly soft image quality masks the finest picture details.

Performance

Pioneer PDP-4340HD

Highly accurate color; very good out-of-the-box performance; excellent connectivity; built-in ATSC high-def tuner.

Blacks not as deep as on some plasmas.

Offering very good performance in almost every respect, this plasma outdoes its high-res peers.

Pioneer PDP-5070HD Plasma Display Review

My first display review was a plasma and I've long held that I prefer plasmas to LCDs (in general). It's easy to make such generalizations when you've reviewed 3-1 plasma v. LCD. Pioneer has had a

Great picture ; Removable bottom mounted speaker ; Good signal processing ; Plenty of neat extras (freeze frame, USB input)

Price ; Lack of calibration options

Pioneer's Plasma Powerhouse

The Japanese electronics maker has done away with many of the picture problems plaguing plasma TVs. Hope your couch is comfy.

Pioneer typically is not one of those manufacturers that come to mind when you're thinking about purchasing a spanking-new high-definition TV. Its recently released PDP-5070HD aims to change that by delivering one of the best plasma pictures you'll see...

Pioneer PDP-427 XD

Combined tuner for analog TV and DVB-T., The screen is easily calibrated., Fluid HDTV-reproduction in 1080/24p format., Speedy channel changing

The screen does not offer full HD resolution., Gray side bars on 4:3 signals., Clear sound but weak bass., Reflective casing edges

The Pioneer PDP-427 XD won us over with its natural, almost CRT-quality picture, and is highly recommended for home-theater use. Current Blu-ray discs in 24p format are displayed completely judder-free, but it's the set's low resolution (1024 x 768...

Pioneer PDP-5060HD Plasma HDTV

Not surprisingly, Pioneer is giving Panasonic a run for their money, holding steady on what they do well (processing) and improving on what they historically haven't (black level). So there, for those who want to know. Between this and the Panasonic...
