Samsung Q9FN series (QN75Q9FN) review

Intensely bright picture ; Deep black levels ; Minimized halo and blooming ; Superior off-angle viewing to competing LCD TVs ; A joy to use

No Dolby Vision ; HDR brightness is aggressive

The Samsung Q9FN is the best LED/LCD TV we’ve tested thanks to its superb picture quality and outstanding ease of use. It’s the whole package, and you’re going to want one.

Samsung Q9 TV review: Expensive LCD takes direct aim at OLED

Samsung's high-end Q9 delivers the best picture quality of any non-OLED TV on the market, scads of features and sweet design. So can it knock off its OLED rival from LG?

The Samsung Q9 has the best overall picture quality of any non-OLED TV I've reviewed, with exceedingly bright highlights, inky black levels with minimal blooming and best-in-class off-angle and bright-room performance. Its innovative design makes...

More expensive than OLED TVs with superior image quality. Bixby can't compete with Alexa or Google Assistant. Not available in a 55-inch size.

The Samsung Q9 is an amazing performer with exquisite design and loads of extras, but it costs more than OLED TVs and doesn't perform as well.

Samsung Q9FN QLED Smart 4K UHD TV (QN65Q9FNAFXZA)

The Q9FN TV proves Samsung's QLED technology can go toe-to-toe with OLED, with the widest color gamuts we've seen in a consumer display.

Very wide, accurate color. Strong contrast for an LCD TV. OneConnect box adds flexibility for wall mounting. Smart TV platform with voice assistant and smart home controls.

Expensive for a non-OLED TV. Samsung's Bixby is no Alexa or Google Assistant.

Bottom Line: The Q9FN TV proves Samsung's QLED technology can go toe-to-toe with OLED, with the widest color gamuts we've seen in a consumer display.

Samsung Q9FN 4K UHD TV review: Top-tier goodness, now significantly more affordable

Samsung's Q9FN TV offers better blacks than last year's model, and is arguably the best TV on the market. The series is also a lot less expensive than it was last year.

Excellent color and clarity ; Super stylish interface, remote, and connectivity ; Excellent HDR rendering

Doesn't support Dolby Vision ; Interface and remote combo are handsome, but not as efficient as they could be

Ultra Elite. Give me a break. Still, other companies lay it on even thicker, and the plain fact of the matter is that if any TV is deserving of superlatives, the Q9FN is. It’s a terrific view, and installers and interior design folks and the terminally...

Samsung Q9FN / Q9F Q9 2018 TV

Very bright in both SDR and HDR ; Very low input lag, even with interpolation ; Great motion handling

Image loses accuracy when viewed at an angle

Samsung 65-inch Q9FN QLED TV Review: Who Needs OLED?

Samsung's best is on display on the 65-inch Q9FN QLED TV, and it's hard to overstate how good the end result is. This is Samsung's best version of QLED technology, and this set brings the LCD the closest it's ever been to OLED's industry-leading...

Sleek design reduces cable clutter ; Near-OLED levels of picture quality ; Strong HDR support ; Excellent 4.2-channel sound ; Great smart features

No Dolby Vision support ; Bixby is slightly less polished than competing voice assistants

The Samsung 65-inch Q9FN QLED TV is Samsung's best 4K TV, and it shows, with best-in-class LCD performance, excellent sound and plenty of smarts.

Samsung Q9FN TV Review

Can Samsung's new TV steal the spotlight from OLED?

Samsung Q9FN review: a compelling argument against OLED

Samsung Q9FN review: We love OLED TVs, but Samsung's latest provides a robust counterargument and makes a compelling case for LCD.

Gorgeous brightness and colours ; Impressively deep blacks ; Full-array local dimming ; Lovely finish

Not quite OLED levels of shadow detail

One of the most impressive TVs in recent memory.

Samsung QE55Q9FN

Samsung QE55Q9FN review: OLEDs are great, but LCDs are brighter. And this is the best 55-inch LCD TV we've ever reviewed.

Fantastically bright, colourful HDR pictures ; Unprecedentedly deep and uniform black levels for an LCD TV ; Good sound quality

Loses shadow detail in very dark scenes ; Limited viewing angles ; No Dolby Vision support

The Samsung QE55Q9FN combines unprecedentedly bright HDR peaks with the deepest, most consistent black levels the LCD TV world has ever seen.
