Samsung LE52F96BD review

This new backlight system itches to give traditional LCD tech its marching orders

Clever LED technology ; Excellent HD pictures ; Amazing black levels ; Sleek styling

Restrictive viewing angle ; Dodgy standard-def pictures

This outstanding TV offers a jaw-dropping glimpse at the future of LCD technology

Samsung LE52F96B

Why does this matter? Well, firstly it should help counter LCD technology's traditional problem with reproducing convincing black colours, since the TV can regulate the light output of individual parts of the screen as needs dictate, allowing dark...

Superb black level response, impressive colour resolution, generally good motion handling, beautifully designed, excellent connectivity

Standard definition playback can look noisy, the viewing angle is limited, still occasional blur

Samsung LE-52F96BD

Sublime HD pictures tempered by disappointing Freeview performance ..

LED SmartLighting] causes flare around bright objects ; LED SmartLighting] causes black level fluctuation

This is a tough one to call. On the one hand, the local dimming LED backlight on Samsung LE52F96BD has brought blacks on a flat screen television to an entirely new level. In terms of sheer spectacle (or lack thereof) value, nothing beats witnessing a...

Samsung LE52F96BDX

Very good size Excellent quality picture at full 1080p HD and new LED lighting system makes viewing experience even better A nice true black is acheived with the extremely high contrast ratio An amazing ammount of inputs to suit every eventuality

Poor placement of TV speakers (at rear) therefore leading to an awful audio experience - as with any other Samsung TV - external speakers recommended! Otherwise a lovely Television
