Samsung LND630 review: Samsung LND630

Samsung LND630

The ; series exhibited very good picture quality, with relatively deep black levels, accurate color in bright areas and excellent video processing with proper handling of 1080p/24 sources. Its matte screen works well in bright lighting and the TV...

Shadow detail on the LND630 series was somewhat murky, its dark areas tinged were tinged a bit blue, and the benefits of 120Hz difficult to discern. A few slightly more expensive models have much better feature selections.

With image quality every bit as good as many expensive LED models, the Samsung LND630 is a great choice for a no-frills LCD TV.

Samsung LND630 review

One of the most common requests we hear at CNET is for a TV that has good picture quality "without all that extra crap" (or words to that effect). Said extras included on many TVs these days include Internet connectivity and 3D, as well as an LED...

Samsung LN40D630

With the LN40D630 ($799 MSRP), what you see is what you get: no internet features, no 3D imaging, just a display with some connectivity in the back, one that happens to be quite good. This may be exactly what some consumers have been searching for, but...

Strong contrast ratio ; Solid color performance

Lacks detail in black and white values ; Not much added to a cheaper Samsung model

Samsung produced some of the most feature-packed televisions in 2011, and from what we saw at CES, they have no intention of slowing down in 2012. The LN40D630 ($799 MSRP) is a much more basic television from their 2011 line. You won’t find any...

"Great Digital but poor analog Cable Picture"

I picked this TV based on past experience with Samsung products and the many combination of input jacks. I didn't realize just how much picture I was missing with the old analog TV. If you watch analog cable TV you will be disappointed but digital...

Excellent picture quality on digital TV or HDMI. 4 HDMI, 2 composite video,USB and PC inputs. stereo analog audio out mini jack or optical. Many picture adjustment controls. Audio quality of TV speakers is OK for the small speaker size but not great.

Algorithm for converting analog cable channels is very poor with lots of ghosting, blurring and smearing of the picture. No coaxial digital audio output. The TV volume control does not control the level of the volume on the analog audio output.

"Spctacular image quality! Great Price ($600 BestBuy)"

I'm astounded at the progress in TV picture quality over just 3 years. Calibrate / adjust this TV using the best settings found on the web, and then tweak them according to your own eyes and environment. The picture quality is stunning. On the down...

Spectacular image quality (after appropriate set-up). Sound is fine, but with a picture this good you might consider some kind of surround sound. Matte Glass image (YES!) so no unwanted reflections. Far superior to 3 year old Sony Bravia it replaced.

Picture looked REALLY crappy out of the box. Absolutely go to the web, and use the settings found on the forum. (Blacks will still need to be darker, dynamic contrast should be "low", and perhaps other settings to your own taste.)

Great TV!

Really like the back lit remote.......

Bright, sharp picture! Before buying this on newegg, I looked at all the TVs on walls in stores. Time after time, when you stand back and look for a picture that just pops and is better than all others, when I walked up to that TV, it was a Samsung!! I...

Nice LCD TV...

Automotion can have a strange effect on some movies; I changed the default setting to 'Clear', which looks much better to my eye. I find the remote and menu interface to be a bit clunky. It's not difficult to figure out, but I think that these could...

Very sharp, clear picture ; Multitude of inputs ; Decent sounding speakers as far as flat panels go ; Attractive/stylish looking display ; Good value for Samsung quality ; Perfect size for medium sized rooms

No cons really, see other thoughts for my gripes
