Samsung PN42C450 Review – 42-inch Plasma HDTV

The PN42C450 is marketed by Samsung as a part of its 42” Class 450 Series and as a model built under 720p Plasma HDTV. Even though the size of the screen is smaller in comparison to the other expensive models still it comes with a number of advanced...

Samsung PN42C450 further comes with V-chip feature, which enables parents to block inappropriate movies and programs based on their FCC rating. The model also compiles with the energy efficiency and eco-friendliness standards prescribed by the...

Samsung PN42C450

A scientific, in-depth analysis with side-by-side comparisons

In general, it’s hard for us to find reasons to recommend a plasma over an LCD. Side by side, there’s a distinct lack of sharpness in plasmas, as well as a mosquito flicker of noise that tells you in no uncertain terms that you’re looking at a plasma....

Excellent for my needs

I bought it at a large nationwide store that is headquartered in Chicago for 2 Andrew Jacksons less than newegg. With tax it was still less. Whoohoo!

Excellent blacks. No soap opera effect watching Battlestar Galactica unlike my friend's Samsung LN46C650. Colors pop off the screen. No buzzing issues. SImply put, the picture through both HDMI from my PC and HDMI from my PS3 looks sharp, and certainly...

It's not a PN43D450. It required a bit of calibration to get the picture where I wanted. The screws were a pain to get into the base. Samsung needs to redesign the base. I expect more from them

SAMSUNG 42" 720p 600Hz Plasma HDTV PN42C450

i would highly recommend this TV to anyone who is looking for a cheap high quaility tv. this TV is defenity worth more then you pay for it.

GREAT TV...price and quaility of product. Samsung does it again for me. great picture for a 720p tv. even better then my parents Viore 1080p 42" tv they bought last year

the only thing i dont like about the TV is that it is does pick up alot of glare. but thats partially my fault that i dont have curtains on the windows

follow up...

As long as a blu-ray is playing, the resolution displayed is 1920x1080@60Hz and this is when the Info button on the TV's own remote is pressed.

An unexpected surprise. Connected the TV to a blu-ray player from the same MFG, the 5500, and this is what happened. When the player was turned on, the TV displayed 720x480@60Hz. When a blu-ray disc started loading, the screen displayed 1920x1080@60Hz....

Great Price - Nice HDTV

Garbage in garbage out. If the TV get a crumby signal, you get a crumby picture. But on the other hand, if you send it a great signal, WOW it's awesome! I calibrated my screen so, some of you may want to try these settings: Mode=Movie, Contrast=96,...

The color... it's beautiful. The onboard sound is actually pretty good for a TV. It's a plasma and I assembled it myself (ie. it's not heavy). Great size for most rooms. Plenty of adjustments to tweak. Looks great. They raised the controls on the TV's...

The plasma screen isn't exactly black... and this is before turning it on. However, when watching a program that fills the screen and has contrast too, it looks fine

SAMSUNG 42" 720p 600Hz Plasma HDTV PN42C450

We have 1 plasma and 3 Mid range LCD's. Our plasma is the Samsung PN50B530 from last year. Ordering this we were expecting similar quality however the PQ is nothing in comparison. This is by far our worst panel at our house. We currently have a LG lcd...

Price, cosmetically pleasing, slim, almost no image retention that I've noticed

Picture quality

No Expert-----BUT!

I am actually considering buying another one of these sets as a XMAS present for a family. Trying to get in the spirit of things this year!

Excellent quality, performance and the price is fantastic. I paid $599.00 a month ago at the Worst Buy. Samsung makes great products in all categories and I purchased this TV after giving standard LCD a shot and not liking the picture quality. Now that...

People who rate their Technical Knowledge at the highest levels and then state that an HDMI cable somehow can alter the electronics of anything it is hooked up to amaze me. To the nice, well-meaning person who reviewed this TV and claims that his HDMI...

Awesome TV

Any Samsung plasma for the win!

Excellent TV. I also own the 50" 1080p version of this TV - the PN50C550G1F and can honestly say this TV is equally as pleasing. I'm away from home for a while and wanted a 42" plamsa and after doing all the research this was the only option ; I was...

Like others have said, there is glare. Careful placement should resolve this. No 3D - big deal - I don't want to wear glasses while I watch TV anyway

Great TV for the Price

And for the people who think this is just a 720P TV. You are wrong because when you run an HDMI cable to the TV it runs 1080P. My PS3 and Xbox 360 run 1080P. The components only run 720P.

The TV is awesome and picture looks great. I was a LCD fanboy now I'm all about Plasma TVs. The blacks on this TV are dark compared to my Sony LCD. Will buy another one for the bedroom

None, I love plasma's now
