Samsung PN50B450 Review – 50-inch Plasma HDTV

Perfect for watching the cars whiz by in the Formula One championships, this HDTV concentrates on developing the fastest refresh rates to keep you seated on the edge of your seat. Watching movies is equally interesting because of the 600 Hz subfield...

Watching movies on the Blu-ray disc player can become an easy experience with the addition of 3 HDMI. Other inputs include composite A/V and PC. The PC input can make it possible to convert the HDTV to a computer monitor. In this way, it can serve two...

Samsung PN50B450

PN50B450 is one of the few Plasma TVs in Samsungs lineup and it's moderately priced and delivers a very compelling price / performance ratio. It's sports a 1024 x 768 resolution (720p) which isn't the most common resolution for a …

Hmmm

My other half got it locally for $800 and came with a free samsung home theater package. She doesn't mind about the buzzing so I am just going to deal with it.

Lots of menu options, very good resolution, easily mistaken for a 1080P. Great black levels, minimal glare for a plasma screen

Buzzing issue look it up ; It might be just me but some skin tones, in the shadow'y areas, become gray (desaturated) ; Loud buzz

wow.

You cant beat the 600hz refresh rate, the depth in color. Wow, you cant beat the price. great buy.

Wonderful TV, great clarity great picture. Plenty of inputs and skinny. Much smaller than my last LCD. looks great hanging on the wall

Speakers are not very good. USE a surround sound unit. and of course as with all plasmas shiny cover make sure not in view of a window or you will get glare

I told my friends it's a 1080p

I do want to get the full 1080p some day. But for now, I'm living large and the set does a very good job!

The picture is truly amazing. I can honestly not tell the difference between this set and 1080p sets. And neither can my friends. I told them that it was a 1080p back when I bought it and every time they come over they give me props for the amazing...

It's not a true 1080p set

Great television

Also, the power cord could be longer. However, it does have a nice 90* angle to where it connects to the set for flush mounting. Did not purchase from NewEgg but often rely on their reviews due to higher tech knowledge.

Excellent value. I was in the market for a 720p 47-52inch, plasma or LCD - didn't matter. Reason being it was to be placed above the mantel (my size limitation) 14' away from the couch, which is too far away to notice the difference. There's a chart...

No S-video support. All ports are on the left side in the rear. It's a con since my stereo rack is on the right, requiring longer HDMI/Composite and Component cables, which Samsung supplies none of. Also, the power cord could be longer. However, it...

Excellent TV

my advice on this tv, don't pay over 900... you should be able to buy this for 900 or less... i paid 925 at christmas...

This is the best tv you can buy for the money. i watch HD channels on this tv (MLB channel, NatGeo, etc...) and it is pure eye candy. it's mounted on my wall and i couldn't be happier. i have friends that are out spending 2+K on 1080p tv's and there...

you don't want this (plasma) type tv if you have windows in the background. i have an entire wall (12' x 8') of windows on the side and the light is not an issue but reflection from behind would pose a bit of an issue. lcd's have less (little to no)...

Some info

The main reason plasma is better than LCD is the refresh rate, 600 vs 60/120/240 max on LCD. It does make some difference, especially in sports with fast moving objects. Do not hesitate to get a Plasma over the LCD. They are bright as heck, they look a...

I have the PN50"A"450. This is the B model. I just am putting something here for those considering these. I am totally happy as heck with my A model ; The B models, to my knowledge, have a 600hz field refresh instead of the standard till now 480hz...

Power useage with the A model is kinda high, about 600-700watts with an all white screen with brightness turned all the way up, but prob averages around 400-500watts with normal useage, higher than LCD screens by half or more again. They say that the B...

Samsung PN50B450

This hdtv has a great picture. True it's a 720p set, but most eyes can't see the difference between 720p and 1080p. It is said that when full 3D-Bluray arrived this hdtv was obsolute-NOT TRUE! This hdtv was designed to view 3d content from a pc and the...

Great Picture and Bluray-3D Capable

Must use your pc for 3D content viewing

Don't Buy Samsung

Buy this set and you're stuck with it's problems. I've always thought Plasma is better because you can see the images from any angle. However, stay away from the Samsung line because, after less than 30 days, you will get an image burn regardeless if...
