Samsung QN85B QLED Review (QN55QN85BAFXZA, QN65QN85BAFXZA, QN75QN85BAFXZA, QN85QN85BAFXZA)

The Samsung QN85B QLED is a high-end TV, and it's the successor to the Samsung QN85A QLED. Part of Samsung's Neo QLED series of TVs, it features a Mini LED backl...

Image remains accurate at an angle. Completely judder-free from all sources. Upscales lower resolution content well. Fantastic peak brightness in HDR. Fast response time. Exceptional low input lag. Bright enough to overcome glare in a bright room....

Low native contrast that causes blooming in dark scenes. Mediocre black uniformity. Doesn't support Dolby Vision. Lower peak brightness and worse local dimming in 'Game' Mode.

The Samsung QN85B is a great TV for most uses. Thanks to its high peak brightness and good viewing angle, it's an impressive TV for watching TV shows or sports in a bright room. It also has decent contrast and a great local dimming feature, so it's a...

Samsung QE55QN85B

There's lots to like about the Samsung QE55QN85B Mini LED TV, but then again there's a fair bit to be irritated by

Bright, vibrant and (mostly) detailed images ; Good spec for next-gen games consoles ; Neat, slim design

Struggles to differentiate black tones ; No Dolby Vision HDR (again) ; Smart TV interface has gone backwards

Samsung QN85B (QE55QN85B) review

An IPS LCD TV that's actually good? Computer says yes

Impressive brightness and contrast ; Good value for Mini LED technology ; Sharp native 4K and upscaled HD

Limited effective viewing angles ; Dimming of small bright highlights ; No Dolby Vision support

Bright, colourful and surprisingly contrast-rich Mini LED-inspired picture quality makes the QN85B a strong all-rounder at its price

Samsung QN85B review: this Neo QLED TV is great for gamers

Brightness? Check. Slim design? Check. Next-gen gaming features? Check. So what's not to like about the Samsung QN85B? T3's review reveals all

Bright, colourful and high-contrast images ; Great for gaming ; Slim, nice-looking design

Short of black-tone detail ; Tizen smart TV changes are a backward step ; No Dolby Vision HDR

In many ways the QN85B represents excellent value for money, but it’s also a little compromised in certain aspects of its performance. If you want ultra-bright images it'll certainly dazzle your eyeballs for mostly good reasons though.

Samsung QN85B NeoQLED TV review: bright doesn’t mean best

Strange things are afoot for this mainstream QLED telly. The Samsung QN85B gets bright, but suffers in other areas

Remarkable brightness levels ; Fully equipped for your next-gen console ; Big spec for the money

Can’t extract meaning from dark scenes ; No Dolby Vision HDR ; Screen is quite reflective

For every ‘plus’ there’s a ‘minus’ here – you do the maths
