Sony Bravia KDL-EX500 review

> Of the four Sony LCD TVs we've reviewed this year so far, the KDL-EX500 is both the least expensive and the most impressive for the money. It lacks the thin chassis of its LED-based brothers, along with the eye-catching Monolithic design of the...

Reproduced somewhat deep black levels; accurate color in bright areas; matte screen works well in bright lighting; solid picture adjustment options; streams video via USB.

Dark areas tinged somewhat blue; benefits of 120Hz difficult to discern; some smoothing evident in 1080p/24 processing; fewer picture controls than some competitors.

The Sony KDL-EX500 LCD TV incorporates respectable image quality with essential features at a wallet-friendly price.

Amazing picture quality. Definitely worth the price.

First Television I've ever purchased. Bought this when I was 17. Due to being a student, I didn't have too much expendable money to work with, but this TV is definitely worth the price, and worked well with my budget. I had to get it shipped, it came...

Perfectly crisp picture quality. Many customization options: Color, zoom, frame rate(motion-flow, cinemotion) Game mode: Eliminates any input lag between game controller and TV. Good sound for a TV. Multiple HDMI inputs.

Gray bar at the bottom of the TV looks slightly strange, not really a big deal though. As others have said, the sides are quite reflective, but I actually find it nice. It's really a matter of taste whether you like the glossy frame.

After a long search, we went with Sony.

We really like this TV. After weeks of comparison shopping and reading reviews and tracking sales in the area, I walked into a London Drugs and found this for $100 less than I had previously seen it advertised. When I brought it home, it was super easy...

The picture is crisp. Colors are good. We like the menu layouts and the options offered. When I switch from "General" picture mode to "Sports", or "Games", or "Cinema", the difference is noticeable. The blacks are surprisingly good.

The sound levels need some adjusting for watching an HD television signal. We had some trouble hearing dialogue, but were able to make the necessary adjustment. The deepest blacks do tend to vacillate between black and dark blue.
