Sony KDL-46W4000 review

Superb pictures and a distinctive design from the latest Bravia

Excellent picture ; Decent sound ; Comprehensive connections

Over-fussy OSD ; Sound a little underpowered

Minor niggles aside, this is a fantastic TV across the board

Exceptional image quality. 1080p resolution. 1:1 Pixel PC connection. Integrated HD Tuner. 24p cinema mode. Excellent colour.

Limited calibration options. Minor backlight bleeding on screen edges.

The Sony Bravia 46W4000 offers exceptional image and sound quality at a reasonable price.

The KDL-46W4000 sets new standards for large screen LCD performance ..

The KDL-46W4000 sets new standards for large screen LCD performance. Its major attraction is that it can fulfil the role of day to day Standard Definition workhorse as well as having the potential to be the centrepiece of a full blown Home Cinema system.

Missing a few features, but only features I wouldn't use anyway.

Virtually no glare (matte finish - not glass) ; Dirt cheap if you can find it

Only 1360x768 via VGA ; 1080p over HDMI from a PC processes the image making it look a little bit unclear compared to VGA

Sony Bravia KDL46W4000

Out of the box (after setting it up for home use) it was very very pleasing to the eye - the jump from 1366/768 to 1920/1080 (from our old LG DVR LCD)was very noticable - maybe also in part to the newer technology in this set. Remote and TV very easy...

Very stable picture settings ; Virtually no calibration from standard settings using the HD Basics Blu Ray Disc required ; Very nice price as virtually same as X & XBR but for much less (due to discontinuation of model and a couple of less settings) ;...

Believe set was brought out for olympics so there was only a limited Australian supply available - hard to find in numbers at a reasonable price ; Slight (ever so slight) blacklight bleeding which you would be really really pushed to notice in a normal...

Interesting that you should review a TV which was "available" in Australia for less than a week. Not your fault!! Sony's!! This model appears to have been excess europe stock run out here.

Fantastic TV

It doesn't exist
