Review: Dell's XPS 15 7590 reaches for 8 cores of CPU power

Dell's XPS 15 7590 tests the limits of its thin-and-light chassis with an 8-core “overclockable” Core i9-9980HK and a discrete GeForce GTX 1650.

Relatively thin and powerful ; Beautiful 4K OLED panel ; Actually reasonably priced vs. the competition

Will rarely hit maximum Turbo Boost clocks ; CPU tends to heavily downclock under gaming workloads

We don’t normally get into the weeds of the thermal performance of a laptop, but the XPS 15 7590 jams an 8-core CPU and decently powered GPU into a 4-pound, 6-ounce package. Is Dell asking too much of this slender chassis?

A Review of The Impressive Sony 2019 X950G 4K HDR LCD TV (XBR55X950G) (XBR65X950G) (XBR75X950G) (XBR85X950G)

Sony's first release of their soon to be extensive 2019 TV lineup is the X950G and if it broadly represents the quality we can expect from the rest of this brand's 2019 premium 4K UHD TVs

• Sturdy design • Exceptional color rendering for normal and HDR content • Amazingly good motion handling, especially for gaming • Very robust contrast ratios and black levels • Voice control features and very rich smart TV functionality

• Local dimming has a few minor issues • VA display technology deteriorates picture performance at sharp angles • No HDR10+

The bottom line for the X950G is that while it’s somewhat on the expensive side (it is after all a brand new high “mid-range” 4K TV release), we liked it very much in almost every regard.

Sony X950G 75-inch Android TV Review

The Sony X950G 75-inch Android TV is one of the larger TVs we've reviewed, and it joins a growing selection of 4K TVs that go above and beyond the 65-inch screen size that has become today's standard. Many people will be attracted to the X950G for the...

Sleek design with built-in cable management Strong feature set Built-in Chromecast Android TV 8.0 is excellent Improved remote control

Backlighting shows prominent halos Volume and bass are on the weak side

Worth considering, as the Sony X950G Android TV is pretty good, especially in the larger sizes.

SONY XBR65X950G 4K HDR TV REVIEW

It's time to kick off the 2019 TV review season, and first on deck is Sony's brand new XBR950G. This display is part of the company's premium family of LED/LCD TVs which also consists of the XBR850G and XBR900G. The 950G will be available in 55”, 75”,...

Typical loss of contrast and color saturation at wide viewing angles 65” model does not have Wide Angle viewing technology

Sony’s XBR65X950G is a great 4K TV. It delivers pristine picture quality that is hard to find fault with other than the usual wide-angle viewing deficiencies that are common with LED TVs. Its full-array LED backlighting serves up very good contrast and...

Sony X950G/XG95 4K TV (XBR-65X950G) review

Making a great mid-range TV is harder than it looks. For starters, it has to be better looking than the cheap TVs while still being cheap enough that it fits within most folks’ budget. The good news? The Sony X950G - called the Sony XG95 in the...

X1 Ultimate Processor Netflix Calibrated Mode Motion handling, 4K upscaling

Poor sound quality Mediocre 4K/HDR black levels Netflix audio bug

Sporting the upgraded X1 Ultimate processor, Netflix Calibrated Mode and the latest version of Android TV, Sony’s mid-range X950G/XG95 has a lot going for it. Unfortunately, its image processing prowess is greatly diminished by its truly sub-par audio.

A viewing pleasure

Had this a few weeks now. Works fantastically with my Sony atmos amp with great lip sync via the ARC, but I have used it with its own speakers and was quite surprised at how good they where but obviously the 5:1 option is superior. As for the picture...
