It was a great set, until...

I've had this set since 9/04. I think I was waiting for the shipment to arrive to pick it up, b/c at the time it was the clear pic for the price point with the integrated tuner and the cablecard setup. Now I'm one of the few out there that uses over...

Great when it's working

Not the most reliable set? Did someone mention heavy?

Great picture and sound in an affordable HDTV

I did a lot of research before buying this TV and I'm delighted with the results. The picture is as good as TVs 2 and 3 times as expensive and this set can be had for about $800. After four months, I'm still awestruck by the video quality! It is ...

Excellent sound, picture, features, connections and versatility. You won't want to turn it off!

No subtitle button, max 16 favorite channels, deep and heavy (148 lbs) cabinet.

HDTV - Hurry up and wait

I've had this set and Directv's HD service for about 4 months now and the best advice I can give prospective buyers of this set, or any other HDTV , is to wait. Despite all the hoopla over the revolutionary technology, it's still in it's infancy stage....

Brilliant picture on HD channels.

HD service is limited and you won't be pleased with the non HD channels.

This is a very nice unit

I wanted a TV with the best picture, the best features and the best looks that would fit in my space. The Sony WEGA was the perfect choice. The feature list on this TV is very impressive and the family loves the picture. I love the ATSC tuner- I was ...

Awesome Picture, killer sound, easy access, super features. A winning set-up.

It's heavy. The video input selection is not convenient. That's it.

Old technology that puts some new ones to shame!

Compare and you know what I mean! Despite the size, weight misgivings the picture quality is awesome in HD. 36" 4:3 is equivalent to a 33" 16:9 and the only reason for not watching 16:9 on this unit is if you don't want to take chances with the...

Picture,Sound quality,HD Built-in,Plenty of inputs,Reliability,Video mode memory,Great easy to use menu interface.

No PIP, 16:9 screen mode lacks Default setting, picture not a perfect rectangle, too heavy.

Best TV, bar none!!

The reviewer above below does not know how to turn on a TV. Sony TVs are different than most TV sets as they need to be kept in stand-by mode in order to turn them on with the remote. This just means that when you turn off the TV with the remote, you...

Uniquely stunning picture quality. Even standard TV shows like HDTV! Sound is also excellent.

Very heavy. But then so are all CRT (directview) TVs.

Better Than Plasma - Fits Perfect In A Corner.

I have been researching televisions for over two years and have not been impressed until the latest release of the Sony line-up tube televisions in the XS and XBR series. I was never happy with the LCD/DLP/Plasma/HD-ILA all having fixed resolutions...

Ultimate in HD resolution, sound, build quality, versatility, and enjoyment.

NONE. The 238lb weight not an issue. TV slides well on carpet with matching stand.

Fails to Power Up

It will not display a signal when you turn it on. You have to turn it off and then on again to see anything. I tried to remedy this through Sony. Sony's on-line and phone technical support was spotty and sometimes useless. The on-line support will ...

Good picture, intuitive menues, good sound

Great TV if you've got the room

It seems that now-a-days people are spending more and more for their electronics and televisions imparticular. Perhaps it's a sign of the masses being fed-up with movie ticket prices. Well, that's part of the reason I bought this set: to be able to...

great picture, good sound, flexibility of 4:3 and HD

weight if moved, depth if small room, cost prohibitive for some

Sony 30XS955- fantastic picture, a decent value

I was waiting for a review on what I believed would be a good HDTV as part of my decision whether to buy. No review appeared to guide me, so now that I own one, it's time for a review to guide others. I wanted to get into HDTV but not spend more than ...

Stunning picture. Many picture adjustment options. HDMI input is latest technology. Good looks.

A big cabinet. Heavy.
