The best 40-inch TV in town? Could be...

Spectacular picture quality ; Good online video content ; Exceptionally low input lag

Limited viewing angle ; Smart interface is a touch primitive ; A few too many processing options

For us Sony could be doing more with its interface and secondary control apps to streamline content navigation. But despite this the SEN remains overall a superior Smart TV effort.

Sony's TVs keep getting better thanks to some nifty new tech

Sensational 2D and very good 3D picture quality ; Distinctive and elegant design ; Impressive audio quality

Very limited viewing angle ; Sony Entertainment Network Hub menu is cumbersome ; Minor crosstalk with 3D

And should you rather view content stored on a USB flash drive or other device, USB streaming and DLNA network streaming are present, too.

Sony KDL-46W905A review

There's plenty of momentum behind Sony TVs at the moment, and W9 is the tip of the spear

Superb picture quality ; Excellent interface ; Very efficient ; Best-ever input lag

It's pricey ; Lacking in apps ; No Freesat tuner

The W9 has become a favourite for 2013 among AV experts and it's easy to see why. It's a fantastic TV that both looks fantastic and produces picture quality to match. The W9 has become a favourite for 2013 among AV experts and it's easy to see why....

Who wants voice control when you can have NFC and gorgeous images?

NFC smartphone mirroring ; Nuanced colour ; Clean and vibrant 3D ; Motion clarity

Limited smart TV apps ; Single TV tuners ; Tight viewing angle

It's the best 40-inch TV of the year so far but it's a bit pricey for us to really recommend it

Sony's first Triluminos LED is put to the test, but how will the Sony KDL-40W905A fare?

Supremely sharp pictures ; Artful colour reproduction ; Spectacular design

Only one tuner ; Limited Entertainment Network

Sony KDL-55W905A review

Sony's new flagship TV raises the LCD bar, adding new Triluminos technology to its outstanding flagship LCD panel design

Stellar picture quality ; Striking design ; Video-rich online service ; Excellent audio

Minor crosstalk with 3D ; Limited effective viewing angle ; Smart interface slightly primitive ; No second-screen support

As well as looking more chic, the Sony 55W905A uses new Triluminos technology to deliver a much improved colour performance

Sony KDL-55W905A

A great looking TV that wows in 3D, but there are a few snags that means it falls short of five-star glory

Great design ; Easy to use ; Stunning 3D performance ; Largely convincing and more vibrant colour palette ; Good motion handling ; Excellent detail in brighter scenes

Poor viewing angle ; Detail lost in dark scenes ; Blues occasionally overblown ; Sound is on the thin side

Sony KDL-46W905A

Stacks of detail and a stunning 3D performance, but pictures lack the punch of a five-star product, and we'd like to see brighter whites too

Stacks of detail ; Good black levels ; Crisp 3D

Whites could be brighter ; Contrast could be better ; Lacks picture punch of rivals

Overall the Sony KDL-46W905A is a very capable TV, which seems to fix some issues we noticed in the 55in version, but adopts a few of its own in the process. We love the layer upon layer of detail it shows, but the picture lacks the punch and natural...

Sony KDL-55W905A review

After exploding back on to the TV scene in 2012 with its stunning HX853 series, Sony is hoping to make just as much of a splash with that model's successors, as represented here by the 55W905A.

Superb image and audio quality; good quantities of online video streaming; striking design

A little 3D crosstalk; limited viewing angle

Sony KDL-40W905A review

When the light falls just right, Sony's W9 LED TV glints emerald, like something precious – which, indeed, it is. This 40in thinscreen follows hot on the heels of one of last year's finest LCD displays, the HW8, and seeks to maintains Sony's forward...

Diamond cut design; outstanding image fidelity; mobile device integration; multimedia file support; audio clarity

Single-tuner; self-aggrandizing user interface; half-hearted catch-up service
