Sony Bravia KDL-40Z5100 LCD HDTV First Impressions Review - Intro

The Sony Bravia KDL-40Z5100 is the smallest unit in their HD Z-series line-up with a 40-inch flat screen LCD. Like their X-series of televisions, the KDL-40Z5100 features Sony's Motionflow technology with a 240Hz refresh rate and internet connectivity...

The KDL-40Z5100 presents a good array of features on paper, and we're particularly intrigued by the 240Hz refresh rate and look forward to testing its performance in our lab. Direct connectivity to the internet is a nice option to widen the offerings...

Sony KDL-40Z5100 Review – 40-inch LCD HDTV

Sony KDL-40Z5100. The new KDL-40Z5100 is the smallest unit of Sony's recently launched Z-series LCD TVs. Much like the XBR9 series, the Sony Bravia Z series feature all the latest advanced technology. With a narrow bezel and a thin cabinet depth the...

The Sony Bravia Z series features very impressive Internet connectivity along with Bravia Widgets to show the real-time info on stock, weather, and other news. With 4 HDMI inputs, BRAVIA Link and BRAVIA Sync, a varied types of connectivity with...

Excellent TV

I love this TV. It is the second Bravia LCD. My first one (a 32 inch) still works and I am moving it to another room. I love the interface for the TV. I also love the picture. I haven't tested many capabilities yet because I don't have an ethernet...

Great price/features/performance

Nit picky - I wish the splash screen didn't stay up so long on power up

Awesome TV!

Overall a fantastic television. The whole design of the thing is pleasing to the eye- even when it's turned off. Most of my friends say wow when they walk in the room and see this thing sitting in the corner. I know it's only 40 inches, but it still...

The picture is great. Blue-ray and 360 games look stunning. I didn't think I would get into all the extra features like Amazn streaming and such. Surprisingly, I've found those to be incredibly valuable. I've already purchased some HD programming from...

The Home interface (where you access all the special features) is set up like a PSP interface (probably like a PS3 too, but I don't have one to compare it to). It's good, but kind of clunky if you have a content category that has a lot of stuff in it ;...

Amazing tv!

If i had the money, I would stick one of these in every room of the house, including the office.

Amazing picture, replaced a 2 month old KDL-40S5100. The 60hz refresh on the old one was just killing us, and this one has the 240 which surprisingly makes a huge difference. Plenty of connectors

Found cheaper at a local retailer with free bluray player for 970 out the door, newegg prob charges a tad more for shipppin? eitherway they need to get a tad more competitive with their televisions

Amazing!!

Bought this tv for mostly gaming. Great color and response time. Slight video lag, but easily ignorable. I expect this tv to meet my expectations and then some.

Amazing tv, sleak design, perfect color and awesome for gaming

Slight delay between built in speakers to external but you can disable internal

Extremely Pleased

I set out to buy the KDL40V5100 TV and had not previously seen the Z series or done any research on it. The salesman convinced me it was the one to buy. I made my decision based on the 240 Hz refresh rate and the higher dynamic ratio. When I set up the...

XBR Without The Xtra Cost

Well, to start with, this was delivered without being double boxed, etc., and the top was open (remote was hanging out). There has to be a better way. But, the TV seems fine thus far (whew). I have zero bad pixels, and the panel looks great. I...

About 99% of the tech, etc., found on the XBR9 model at less cost ; 240 hz with motionflow technology ; Good clear picture and natural looking color from Bravia 3 engine ; Decent adjustment range for most settings that provide natural looking results ;...

Most of the HDMI connectors are on the side panel, recessed which is a waste of cable and causes thicker/better cables to stickout from behind the panel. You'll want thinner cables or some kind of 90 degree adapter. Natural looking color can be a bit...

Very Nice HDTV

Once you connect this TV to the Internet it will update the software and then download a bunch of Internet video source websites like YouTube (15 or 20 of them). All of these sources clog up your menu structure and are a pain to navigate through to...

The Picture is very clear when watching HD. HD sports look amazing and clear on this TV. Can play mpeg videos directly from USB port or through Ethernet port connected to DLNA media server. I use the free open source MiniDLNA DLNA Media Server and run...

40" seemed so big when I bought this. I wish now that I bought the 46" or 50 ; Non HD cable channels look somewhat grainy and blurry. I guess this is the same with all HDTV but it came as a surprise to me because this was my first HDTV ; All but one of...
