Sony KDS-RXBR1 review

Sony's 2005 XBR line of rear-projection sets illustrates just how fast and far prices can drop in digital HDTV. In February 2005, the company introduced the Qualia 006 70-inch television, the first to use Sony's proprietary LCoS -based SXRD technology,...

Relatively deep, clean blacks; accurate color decoding and flat grayscale; full HDTV resolution; excellent feature package; generous connectivity, including PC input; extensive picture adjustments.

Blacks are not quite as good as those of the best DLP rear-projection sets; inaccurate primary colors; cannot accept 1080p signals.

By today's standards, the Sony KDS-R60XBR1 is expensive, but its fabulous performance and feature set make it well worth the price for early adopters.

has been great

beautiful picture with HD, low glare. better than many glass screens that show huge reflection of other lights or fireplaces. low heat, good TV.

great picture, from all angles.

circuit board went bad at 6,000 hours. had extra warranty so cost only $200 instead of $2,300. bulb went out after 6800 hours of use. cost $100, replaced myself..
