Olevia 537H HDTV

The bargain-priced Olevia 537H--the first HDTV we've tested from this company--made a good first impression. The 37-inch LCD did particularly well in standard TV tests, effortlessly minimizing pixelation on baseball stadium turf and displaying...

Excellent color quality

Manual is on CD instead of on paper

If you're a thrifty TV shopper, Olevia's 537H LCD HDTV deserves consideration. It's put together well, carries a low price ($1499 as of September 8, 2006), and offers a pleasant viewing experience

Good TV for the money

For a long time we used to get a REALLY LOUD screeching noice now and then with the TV. This went on for a few years (probably once or twice per week) until we found out that a good power source would fix it (power conditioner).

Great picture ; Many features

On-screen Menu is not always straight forward ; Odd brand, not supported on any universal remotes (have not even had luck with u-remote learning functions) ; Sensitive to good power source

Nice TV, poor remote

The power cord is a bit short but it is a PC power supply type cord so finding a replacement is easy.

I was a little bit nervous about buying a recertified TV but it worked out to be a great purchase. The picture is great, lots of inputs (including 2 HDMI inputs), sound is not too bad and if you want better sound, you can use some sort of home theatre...

My only real problem with this TV is that the IR remote codes seem to be proprietary so unless you have a learning remote, you won't be able to use a universal remote to control the TV. Furthermore, the TV remote is supposed to be able to control a...

Fantastic Purchase for the Money

Great picture, and really decent sound. Very easy to set up

Changing Channels is slow and it does get annoying, but if you have a cable box, then it depends on your cable provider. The menu options are difficult to understand/browse through, but if you play around with them you will get used to them

Great LCD

Mine came with 2 HDMI ports

Great picture and the one thing I couldn't find out online. Playing Guitar Hero/Rock Band is no issue, lag is not enough to warrant an adjustment in the game

Takes a while to turn on. Doesn't pass through HDMI 5.1 audio through optical output

Recertified: OLEVIA 37" 720p LCD HDTV 537H

Bought a 5 year warrenty with this thing just in case something goes wrong and it is still way cheaper then any other TV that has a picture like it.

Have had this set for about 6 months now, and have had no problems. The picture is really great for the price how can you beat it? All the color options make this really easy get the picture just how you want it

The only thing that scares me is the noise it makes when turning on and off, also one HDMI is annoying

Great TV for price

For the price, you can't go wrong. I got a refurb and it worked perfect right out of the box. Have owned for 2 months now without any issues.

Even picture, perfect amount of inputs and outputs. Menu is a little tricky but is set up well once you get used to it

SVideo input is a little grainy, but looks great for games and HD

2 down, X to go...

that crapped out also! The new TV it was replaced with lasted less than a month before it started doing the same thing! I'm now starting the process all over again! Also note: The Syntax-Brillian customer support line has an option dedicated to power...

Great picture, easy enough UI, good amount of options, Inputs for anything I needed. A great TV for a great price

if it turned on ; Power issues: It worked for a week before it refused to turn on again. The blue light on the front was lit but pushing any power button did nothing. I also got an occasional electrical crackling sound out of it while trying to turn it...
