HP's Omen 40L comes in at a decent midrange price for such a luxe, quiet, and upgrade-friendly chassis. Our main quibbles are with a lack of USB-C on front, and with memory settings that could use tweaking out of the box.

High native contrast for deep blacks in dim scenes. Good reflection handling.

Bad viewing angle. Not bright enough to overcome glare in a bright room. Sub-pixel dithering causes some color issues, especially in games and shadow details.
