Toshiba L5200U review:

A couple of months ago, I asked how much you would pay for a new television. Unsurprisingly, half of the respondents said under $1,500, and almost half again said under a grand. Well, if that's you, the Toshiba 5200 LED-based LCD series might be a TV...

The Toshiba 5200 series has good all-around performance for the price, with relatively good black levels and shadow detail and minimal uniformity issues.

Color accuracy is a problem, with occasional greenish midtones. The backlight can fluctuate slightly between light and dark material. Unlike some TVs at this price level, there's no 3D or Smart TV.

The bare-bones Toshiba L5200 series offers respectable value for the money with fine picture quality for an edge-lit LED TV.

"Great Image, mainly used for Movies and Games, love it!"

When I first tried watching a live action movie I almost lost it and took the tv straight back! The soap opera effect is annoying, and it was causing pixilation whenever someone turned their head or moved there hands! However, I calmed down and did...

Great Value for Price! Image is great, low energy cost, decent sound for flat screen, 3 HDMI hook ups and one AV. Fiber Optic sound hookup. USB port. PC hook up. Love the image when watching HD movies, or playing HD games.

No WI-Fi and slow to power up. You have to turn clear rate off in order to get rid of soap opera effect and distortion when watching live action movies, but once off problem is solved.

Bang for your buck

This TV is cheaper than similar slim models with the same dimensions/specs. I think the main reason is that it doesn't have any apps on it. Right now I'm running the thing on bunny ears, enjoying the crappy free channels, so I am not the person to ask...

Thin, sleek, good price for what it's worth, good clear picture.

TV takes a good 5-10 seconds to power up.
