Westinghouse LVM-42w2

The LVM-42w2 is the most affordable 1080p LCD monitor currently available, but poor color consistency across the display's dynamic range detracted from the realism of the image.

1080p resolution with supporting video inputs. Excellent ANSI contrast ratio. Good pixel response times.

Lacks advanced color controls. Ineffective video-noise reduction. Green color emphasis. Cheap remote.

Westinghouse LVM-42w2 1080p LCD Display Review

Most of the new 1080p displays on the market simply upconvert 480i/480p/720p/1080i input signals internally to 1080p (and sometimes even those aren't truly 1080p). A select few, including the new

1080p native panel resolution and input – including component and DVI-D ; Slim, attractive display ; Possibly best bang for the buck in a 42" LCD ; Incredibly detailed

Poor off-axis contrast ; True 1080p support limited to single DVI-D input ; No advanced user calibration options ; Random flaky performance issues ; No ATSC/NTSC tuner ; No advanced scaling modes for SD of HD content

Westinghouse LVM-42w2 LCD HD Monitor

Some of you may think that I call the LVM-42w2 a "true HD monitor" because I've finally acquiesced to the HDTV conspiracy theorists who insist that only 1,920-by-1,080 displays like this one should be labeled HDTVs. Don't worry—I plan to support 1080i...

Defective drives

I returned both defective drives for replacement and I hope I'll have better luck. Because of the failure mode of this Hard Drive I would suggest running the "Extended Test" with the WD tool on delivery of the Hard Drive since a bad hard drive may...

Review follow up

I've posted several reviews on this monitor previously. While the TV is decent, I would avoid Westinghouse solely on the poor customer support. When you pay decent money for a product, you should expect decent customer service. I had the bad experience...

Decent picture, budget price, variety of inputs, 1080p
