TX-52F480S

The Westinghouse Digital TX-52F480S ($2550, as of November 4, 2008) is the second-most-expensive HDTV in its size category. Though it costs only $50 more than the Samsung PN50A760, this set falls short of the Samsung on image quality and features.

Good image quality Intellegently senses A/V inputs

Disappointing audio Poorly designed remote

Overall, the Westinghouse TX-52F480S is a pretty good TV. But other models offer more features for less money

Review: Westinghouse TX52F480S

This 52-inch LCD's slick menus put many others in our test to shame. But they don't make up for a lack of noise reduction settings,...

Hanging loops on back of case help with cable management. Modern menus are simple to navigate

No noise reduction adjustment. Off-color LCD makes movies look odd

Review: Westinghouse TX-52F480S 52-inch LCD

Summer might not seem the most compelling time to spring for a new HDTV, what with Lost, Battlestar Galactica, and 30 Rock on hiatus. On...

Easily the hottest-looking thing in your living room. Spell-binding color and contrast. King’s ransom in connectivity ports easily accessible from side-facing rear panel. Onscreen menus so easy, a six-year-old could tweak ‘em. Supports input labels:...

Butt-ugly non-backlit remote. Automatic source detection foiled by always-on sources like TiVos. Takes about 10 seconds to recover from energy-saving standby mode. Optical audio output doesn’t work with HDMI sources

Westinghouse TX-52F480S

The latest (and largest) Westinghouse LCD TV delivers amazingly high image contrast at an attractive price.

Excellent selection of 1080p-compatible video ports. High contrast ratio. No image overscan with HD sources.

Default picture settings yield slightly green images. No picture-in-picture (PiP). No on-screen feedback with manual input switching. ; Watch the Westinghouse TX-52F480S Video Review!

Westinghouse TX-52F480S LCD HDTV Reviewed

Much like Vizio, Westinghouse is targeting the entry-level TV marketplace, with products that offer good performance, but don't include as many advanced features and set-up options as you'll find in the top-shelf brands. The TX-52F480S is the largest...

UltimateAVmag.com: Westinghouse TX-52F480S LCD HDTV

Westinghouse is one of the most venerable consumer-appliance brands in American history, so it's no wonder the company has gotten into the LCD TV game in a big way. I've reviewed several Westinghouse sets, and I've seen steady improvement with each...

Great color, blacks, shadow detail, Grayscale close to correct in Warm color-temp setting, Four HDMI inputs, Good value

Loss of detail in moving images, Slight white crush in bright white scenes, Only one set of RGB calibration controls

As I said at the outset, the Westinghouse TX-52F480S has a lot going for it. Color reproduction, black level, and shadow detail are all excellent. Detail in high-def material is superb as long as there's little motion, but when things get moving, a...

Westinghouse TX-52F480S LCD HDTV

The TX-52F480S is the latest and largest LCD TV offered by the company, and it's got a lot going for it. Even better, it's priced at only $2500, far less than premium 52-inchers. Can it compete with those big-dog brands? Let's see...

Westinghouse TX-52F480S LCD HDTV

The Basics: The TX Series is Westinghouse's top LCD line, yet these HDTVs are still an outstanding value in the 1080p market. This new 2008 model is the company's first 52-inch LCD, and it boasts a slightly faster response time of 6.5ms, a higher...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Review based on Specifications

One review I read show this TV to hold a lot of promise. I'd love to see a real deal review of the TV from someone who owned one. I've been looking for a reasonably priced 1080p LCD TV that is >= 52" to replace my 52" DLP, and this might be the winner.

Low MS, 1080p, 4 stinking HDMI inputs, reasonably large screen

I don't own it, so I'm not sure of any. Perhaps that it isn't 65
