Bought this to replace our daughter's out of date portable. Sound and picture are great and it's easy to tune. Does take a little while to actually come alive when you switch it on and the dvd player is a little noisy when you insert/remove the disc.

Overall, the JVC GR-X5 is a capable camcorder, with good video image quality, plenty of useful features and the ability to provide high-resolution still images. It's pleasingly portable, too. Unfortunately, though, the price is a little on the high side.
