This remote is tied to the switch unit by cable so you can be remote as 6ft ONLY. The IR model is not in the Amazon catalog. I don't why they don't offer both...cost is about the same on GEFEN website...though hard to find. Tangles up more desk...

Could not find in the stores as before. Perfect connection, larger numbers and buttons. Works on all tv's so have the same remote for each. Will get a spare.
