Samsung BD-C7900: 3D Blu-ray Player Shows First-Rate Images

The Samsung BD-C7900 produces images that are among the best we've seen. This $260 (as of November 22, 2010) 3D Blu-ray player also has two HDMI ports, which saves users with 3D HDTVs from having to make a difficult decision regarding audio output....

Great image quality ; Can play 3D Blu-ray ; Two HDMI ports ; Cool-looking light system on top--where it won't distract you ; Fine multimedia offerings ; Can convert all audio to DTS

No physical buttons on player ; Pricey ; Some confusion in how multimedia works

Though it costs more than many competitors, the Samsung BD-C7900 offers excellent images, 3D, ease of use, and all the Internet and multimedia trimmings.

Review: Samsung BD-C7900 Blu-ray player

Though it costs more than many competitors, the Samsung BD-C7900 offers excellent images, 3D, ease of use, and all the Internet and multimedia trimmings.

Like virtually all Blu-ray players, the BD-C7900 lets you send the audio to your HDTV or home theater receiver as an unchanged bitstream, or convert it to PCM in case your receiver doesn't support all of the formats. But the BD-C7900 offers an...

Samsung BD-C7900 Blu-ray Player Reviewed

The new top-shelf model in Samsung's Blu-ray lineup, the 3D-ready BD-C7900 ($399.99) adds a second HDMI output, for use with non-3D-capable A/V receivers. This sleek player also sports integrated WiFi, DLNA streaming, and the Samsung Apps service....

The BD-C7900 supports 3D playback, when mated with other 3D-capable components. It includes dual HDMI outputs to send separate signals to your 3D HDTV and A/V receiver.• The BD-C7900 supports 1080p/24 playback of Blu-ray discs

The BD-C7900 lacks multichannel analog audio outputs, so it's not thebest choice for someone who owns an older, non-HDMI A/V receiver ; This player lacks an advanced control port like RS-232

Samsung BD-C7900

2010 is a huge year for HDTVs as many of the newest high-end models introduced come with 3D features so you can experience the same immersive action you get in theaters in the comfort of your home. Samsung has been really quick off the blocks with a...

The Samsung BD-C7900 is a speedy performer that displays 3D and 2D content in gorgeous colors. This experience can be best realized when used with a new Samsung display. In addition, the Anynet+ feature can be used so a single remote control can...

Samsung BD-C7900

The Samsung BD-C7900 looks like it could be on a cover of a design magazine as the latest must-have home décor accessory. Of all the 3D Blu-ray players on the market, it is the smallest and at just under 4lbs, its sleekness is unrivaled, making it our...

This Blu-ray player is one of a few that contain a built-in memory for external content playback – hence the lack of a SD card slot

A convergence of technology you'll be excited about!

The latest Blu-Ray (and Televisions) with integrated Web/Internet features represent a convergence of technology you'll be excited about! Samsung has done a nice job with ease of use (menus are reasonably intuitive) as well as visual appeal (it'll...

Speedy, intuitive setup--you'll be up and running (from box-to-home theatre) in <30 minutes (presuming you're cool with auto-config selections). Speedy Blu-Ray load/play. Easy to use Web/Internet features, e.g. Netflix, Pandora Radio

T9 input for some Apps is less than "exciting..." (but you may not use the feature often)

DTS Audio drops

Updated on Dec 9, 2010

All of the features are great... the player is easy to set up and use

DTS Audio drops on each chapter change when playing a standard DVD through a Pioneer VSX-33 receiver. (The issue does not occur with Dolby Digital on a standard DVD)

Audio drops out when playing standard DVDs

Not a bad player if you don't intend to play standard DVDs.

Plays Blu-ray discs with no problems

Audio drops out for about a half-second every few minutes when playing standard DVDs. The drops generally occur around chapter boundaries. Firmware updates have so far failed to fix the problem ; Samsung support is worse than useless
