BlackBerry Torch 9800 review: Living the Olympic creed

The BlackBerry Torch is not the first phone to give you both a full hardware QWERTY keyboard and an ample touchscreen in a smartphone setting. But it's a debut for BlackBerry and one that will probably shape the future for the next generation of RIM...

BlackBerry Torch 9800 (AT&T)

The first BlackBerry 6 phone brings the smartphone platform into 2010.

Looks and feels good. Lots of new features. Integrates social-networking well.

Browser still slower than iPhone 4. Fewer games and apps than iOS or Android. Poor Microsoft Exchange integration for consumers.

Conclusions The BlackBerry Torch keeps the flame alive, but it's not a barn-burner. RIM needed the advancements here just to stay in the game against the flashy Apple and Android interfaces. BlackBerry 6 merges touch-screen and keyboard interfaces...

BlackBerry Torch 9800 review: BlackBerry Torch 9800

BlackBerry Torch 9800

The RIM BlackBerry Torch combines both a touch screen and full QWERTY keyboard. BlackBerry OS 6 brings such improvements as a better user interface, universal search, and an improved browser and multimedia experience.

The smartphone can be sluggish. The Torch has a lower-resolution screen. Applications can be saved only to the phone's main memory. Camera shoots only VGA video.

Though performance could be better and it could stand for some hardware upgrades, the RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800 and BlackBerry OS 6 offer much-needed improvements to stay in step with the competition, and keep BlackBerry enthusiasts happy.

Blackberry Torch 9800 Cell Phone Review–Seriously Improving Blackberry

It's been a while since we last tackled a Blackberry, and a fresh one just hit in the form of the Blackberry Torch 9800. And like a lot of Blackberry models, it will have plenty of utility, but not without some significant problems.

Low-resolution display ; The trackball

The Blackberry Torch 9800 is a PDA-style smartphone with 3G, wi-fi, and Bluetooth connectivity, touch screen controls, four gigs of onboard memory with support for microSD cards up to an additional thirty six gigs, a five megapixel camera that shoots...
