Palm Pre Plus & Pixi Plus: Engadget Deutschland Review

Palm Pre Plus (and Pixi Plus) review

It's been about a year since Palm pulled itself back from the brink of imminent destruction with the announcement of webOS and the Palm Pre, and even less

Great hardware keyboard ; Sleek form factor ; Relatively affordable

Sluggish CPU ; Not compatible with all webOS software ; Not enough differentiation from Pre Plus

Palm Pixi Plus (AT&T)

Palm's diminutive Pixi Plus offers AT&T subscribers a slick little smartphone, but it doesn't measure up against the Palm Pre Plus and Apple iPhone 3GS.

Small and light. Fluid, organic user interface. Powerful messaging and Web browsing.

Sluggish. App Catalog lags the competition. Doesn't work as a Wi-Fi hotspot like the Verizon version.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions A standard-size 3.5mm headphone jack makes listening to music a cinch. To transfer media, either use doubleTwist (Free, ), or drag and drop files via the included USB cable. MP3 and AAC tracks sounded full and crisp...

Palm Pixi Plus (AT&T)

Inexpensive ; Slim, pocketable design

AT&T coverage can be spotty ; Keyboard feels too cramped

Palm's sprightly Pixi Plus is a good, inexpensive addition to AT&T's assortment of smartphones, but some users might have trouble with the tiny, cramped keyboard.

Palm Pixi Plus (Verizon Wireless) review

Announced alongside the Palm Pre Plus at CES 2010, the Palm Pixi Plus will be making its way to Verizon shelves on January 25. Like its Sprint counterpart, the Pixi Plus is aimed at those ready to make the jump from a feature phone to a smartphone and...

The Palm Pixi Plus brings the addition of Wi-Fi and the capability to use the smartphone as a mobile hot spot. The sleek handset also offers Bluetooth, 3G, and GPS. The multitasking features of Palm WebOS continues to be one of the highlights.

The smartphone can be sluggish. The camera lacks editing options, and picture quality is pretty poor. No expansion slot.

While not a major overhaul, the Palm Pixi Plus adds built-in Wi-Fi and gives customers making the jump from a feature phone to a smartphone even more functionality without breaking the bank.

Palm Pixi Plus (Verizon Wireless)

The Palm Pixi Plus is a gentle introduction to the smartphone world for texting-phone fans.

Palm's webOS is really user-friendly. Works as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Almost as cute as my three-year-old daughter.

Muddy voice quality. No voice dialing. Not as many apps as Android. A bit sluggish. ; Watch the Palm Pixi Plus!

Conclusions Verizon's Palm Pixi is a great step up for folks who like super-popular messaging phones such as the LG EnV series, but want to enjoy music and apps as well. It's also a better option than the BlackBerry Pearl line, thanks to a superior Web...

Palm Pixi Plus (Verizon)

The "Plus" in the Palm Pixi Plus ($100 with a two-year contract from Verizon; price as of 1/20/10) really means one thing: the addition of Wi-Fi connectivity. Other than that, the phone is identical in specs and design to its predecessor. While the...

Now with Wi-Fi connectivity ; Cute, pocketable design

Keyboard is too small ; WebOS sometimes lags during navigation

Palm’s sprightly Pixi Plus gets a speed boost with Wi-Fi connectivity and Verizon's fast 3G network.

Palm Pixi Plus (AT&T) Review

The Palm Pixi Plus isn't exactly new, but its launch on AT&T this coming Sunday will mark the debut of the GSM version in the US market. Priced at a featurephone-rivalling $49.99 (with a new agreement, naturally), the obvious question is whether you're...

Palm Pixi Plus for AT&T Review

Certainly not the last major carrier to adopt webOS into its lineup, AT&T customers have been fortunate to see Palm's once fledgling mobile operating platform make its entrance with the Palm Pre Plus. However, customers are now given a choice with the...

Palm Pixi Plus

If we had one disappointment with the Palm Pixi it was that it didn't support WiFi. Not only does the Palm Pixi Plus support WiFi it also lets you turn the cell phone into a Mobile HotSpot so that you can share your data connection with up to 5...
