ZOTAC ZBOX Sphere OI520 Plus review: New wine in a brand new bottle

ZOTAC has been regularly releasing small form factor ZBOX PCs over the years, and we have seen that the design hasn't changed much. You get ZBOXes in the regular rectangular size or the smaller square (nano) size. But with the ZBOX Sphere OI520, ZOTAC...

ZOTAC has priced the ZBOX Sphere OI520 Plus model at Rs 32,219 whereas the non-Plus ZBOX Sphere OI520 (without the HDD and RAM) will come to around Rs 29,999. Unlike its previous offerings, the ZBOX Sphere OI520 has decent pricing for its performance...

Zotac Zbox Sphere OI520 Plus

The Zotac Zbox Sphere OI520 Plus is an ultra-small desktop PC with an attractively small price, and a design that will turn heads.

Unique design is both futuristic and funky. Easy interior access. Compact chassis works for either desktop or home entertainment use. HDMI and DisplayPort with up to 4K output. Low price

Operating system sold separately

The Zotac Zbox Sphere OI520 Plus ($479.99) is the latest addition to Zotac's Zbox line of tiny project PCs, but this little desktop looks different from its square-shaped siblings. The Zbox Sphere replaces utilitarian corners with roundness and whimsy,...

Zotac ZBox Sphere Oi520 Series review

Zotac thinks outside the box with a spherical mini PC

Smart looking device ; Solid performer ; Plenty of ports ; Nicely priced

Fragile build quality ; Slight lid design issue ; Not exactly a powerhouse

The ZBox Sphere is an inexpensive barebones mini PC that comes in a striking semi-spherical form factor. It's no powerhouse, but still carries a reasonable specification that means it's more than capable of effective media playback. When you also take...

Zotac ZBOX Sphere OI520 PLUS

This spherical small-form-factor PC is tiny and packs a Core i5 punch

Attractive, orb-like design ; East component access ; Reasonable Core i5 processor ; Cool and quiet

No OS included ; Relies on weak integrated graphics ; Little expansion potential

On the inside there’s dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi that’ll only be outpaced by triple-aerial units, and there’s Gigabit Ethernet. Bluetooth 4.0 is also included.

Zotac ZBOX Sphere OI520 review

Is Zotac's distinctive Zbox Sphere mini-PC a well-rounded computing experience or just a load of old balls?

Unique design Whisper quiet Easy to upgrade

Not very gamey Pricey compared to other options

The performance isn’t out of this world, but Zotac’s globular take on the mini PC is still a spherical spectacle
