Canon PowerShot ELPH 330 HS Review

The PowerShot ELPH 330 HS has a lot of good qualities, but it may not be good enough to fend off smartphones when it comes to casual photography.

We had a difficult time grading the 330 HS for several reasons. For $230, you’re paying for a camera that shoots good quality photos, is stylish, and is simple to use. However, at the end of the day, it’s still a point-and-shoot, and at $200-plus it’s...

Canon PowerShot Elph 330 HS

One of the best cameras you can buy for less than $200, the svelte, 10x-zoom Canon PowerShot Elph 330 HS takes beautiful pictures and lets you send them instantaneously with integrated Wi-Fi.

Sharp lens. Integrated Wi-Fi. 10x zoom range. Excellent high ISO performance. Short shutter lag. Includes external battery charger.

Small-aperture lens. Lacks full manual controls. 1080p video limited to 24fps.

Performance and Conclusions The Elph 330 HS starts and grabs a photo in just about 1.8 seconds. Shutter lag is an impressive 0.15-second, and it fires off shots at 2 frames per second. It's not the absolute fastest compact that we've tested, but it's...

Canon adds ultracompact 10x zoom to 2013 PowerShot lineup

Canon's Elph series is still pretty lean, but the new 330 HS is a necessary piece to stay competitive.

Canon PowerShot ELPH 330 HS Review

Although the Canon PowerShot ELPH 330 HS camera isn't a high-end camera that will compare favorably with interchangeable lens models or fixed lens models with large image sensors, you'll find that the ELPH 330 stacks up well when comparing it to...

Image quality is very good for a camera with a 1/2.3-inch image sensor ; Performs well at low and mid-range ISO settings with minimal noise problems ; Nice to find 10x optical zoom in thin camera ; Start-up times are fast ; Shutter lag is not...

Control buttons on back of camera are too small and too tight to the camera body ; Minimal manual control options ; Menu structure is a little odd and requires some practice to use efficiently ; Full 1080p HD video limited to 24 frames per second ;...

Canon IXUS 255 HS Review

The Canon IXUS 255 HS (also known as the Canon PowerShot ELPH 330 HS) is a stylish digital compact camera that, from the outside, appears to break the rules, sporting a comparably meagre 12.1 megapixel CMOS sensor with a DIGIC 5 processor and a 10x...

The Canon IXUS 255 HS is a joy to use. It's small and lightweight but has that presence of weight that gives you confidence that it's still in your possession. It's good looking enough to want to get it out at every opportunity when on nights out....

Canon PowerShot ELPH 330 HS

Looking for a great all-around point-and-shoot? Make a date with the Canon PowerShot 330 HS.

When most people already carry around a competent smartphone camera in their pocket, it might seem a little silly to shell out for a second dedicated camera. But with the 330 HS you're getting the advantage of a 10x optical zoom and acceptable...

Canon PowerShot 330 HS

There are a few positive changes here, but not enough to justify the price.

10x optical zoom in a slim body; Familiar interface should be understood by many

At MSRP of $229.99, an older discounted model is likely a better deal; Improved WiFi still pales in comparison to smarter devices

If you’ve got a working PowerShot from the last two years, the Canon 330 HS doesn’t provide a compelling reason to upgrade.

Canon IXUS 255 HS review

Stylish point and shoot is a decent all rounder

Fast shot to shot time ; Easy menu systems ; Great HD video performance

No remote Wi-Fi ; Lacks manual controls ; Hard to open battery flap ; No in-camera panorama tool

If you're looking for a good all rounder then the Canon IXUS 255 HS is a great little camera that won't break the bank. The latest addition has earned its spot in the well known, trustworthy Canon IXUS lineup.

Immaculate image quality is the highlight of this superb point-and-shoot camera

Canon IXUS 255 HS

With built-in Wi-Fi and consistently high image quality, the tiny IXUS 255 HS has much to offer.

Consistent image quality; Built-in Wi-Fi; Easy to use.

Some noise at middling sensitivities; Wind noise on movies.

With built-in Wi-Fi and reliably high image quality, there's much to like about the latest addition to Canon's point-and-shoot IXUS lineup. There was some noise at middling sensitivities, but otherwise the 255 HS performed well in my tests.
