I worked as a DirecTV installer many years ago when the switch from TiVo to DirecTV DVRs was coming into play b/c Murdock didn't want to pay TiVo's licensing fees & wanted the money to go into another of his pet projects. The DVR has come A LONG WAY....

I wouldn't put this DVR in your bedroom. Throughout the day it doesn't seem to make much noise. But around 2am - 4am pst. I can hear the hard drive crunching. It drives me nuts because I get up at 4:30am and this wakes me up even earlier. A wish list...

Easy to set recordings. Playback quality is excellent. I'm not an electronics expert, but an Orthopedic Surgeon. I had no problem installing the DVR and dish myself

Haven't found a way to transfer recordings off to a computer, not sure if that can be done with this device
