I like having the remote with this DVD player. I use it for workout DVD's so it is closer to me where I need it to be. I use it for meditation DVD's in a quiet place without other distractions. It's a great little machine with a big screen and a remote.

I play Music Cd s with this Sony DVD player..My Blu Ray Player uses a blue laser and has trouble with Music CDs..The Blu Ray Player plays all the Blu Ray disc and DVDs really well...I will just use my Sony DVD player to play music CDs..

As everone else said, it's good while it lasts. I bought mine a year ago and it worked fine until recently. Now it squeeks loudly when playing DVDs and skips a lot. For the price, I think it was worth it - it lasted a good year for 70 bucks. Don't buy...

I've had this machine for three years and it work just fine. My problem is the remote craps out, so far I have gone through 3 remotes. The buttons stop working and the face plate falls apart.

I have it hooked to a 48' 1080p LCD via HDMI and the upconversion looks pretty good. I haven't seen other upconversion players so I don't have a baseline but if all you want is a cheap player that looks decent for an HD player this is it
