Inexpensive. Good Blu-ray picture quality. Solid multimedia file support.

DVD upconversion quality lags behind other players. No network option (Ethernet).

"It's not as skilled at upconverting standard DVDs as some of the other players we've tested, but the Insignia NS-BRDVD is an otherwise-capable Blu-ray player\x97and it's a great bargain."

Insignia NS-BRDVD

The Insignia NS-BRDVD is competent as a relatively cheap, barebones Blu-ray player, but better players are coming and the Sony PlayStation 3 is a superior option for those with just a little more cash.

Relatively inexpensive for a Blu-ray player; can output Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio in bit stream format; excellent video quality in 1080p/24 mode; Profile 1.1 compliant; solid DVD video performance.

No onboard decoding for multichannel Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio; subpar image quality on Blu-ray Discs in standard 1080p mode; lacks Profile 2.0 support; no Ethernet jack for firmware upgrades; pedestrian design.

It's likely to be at least another year before new Blu-ray disc (BD) players reach the magical sub-$100 price that seems to trigger mainstream adoption, but some of today's players deliver practically pristine audio and video quality at increasingly...

Pundits debate whether Blu-ray will be as successful as DVD, but they're relatively united on one issue: the prices of the players need to drop before the format takes off. The Insignia NS-BRDVD is part of a new breed of bargain players we've seen this...

Insignia NS-BRDVD Blu-ray Player Reviewed

The Insignia brand is sold exclusively through Best Buy retailers and includes products like TVs, DVD players, and digital photo frames. The NS-BRDVD is Insignia's first Blu-ray player, released in mid-2008. This is a Profile 1.1/BonusView player,...

Extremely sluggish performance, but does the job

Bottom Line: If you're an occasional movie viewer, like to have music in the background, or want to take advantage of Netflix's many TV shows, then this player will be just fine for the price. It will do the job. However, if you are an avid viewer,...

Cheap Blu-ray player

Cheap price but a waste of money. Don't buy this one.

Cheap price

Waste of money. Very slow and has a hard time recognizing disks. Finally after the warranty went out, it would refuse to play a disk. Smashed the thing and threw it in the trash. Don't waste your money on this one

"Was good now, well, not so good and"

Best Buy - BAD.... Every time I go there or speak with them on the telephone I feel as though I'm taking a spanking. They get no stars....in fact they get a -1 star.

Auto set up was good, after that it was frustrating trying to connect to the internet. Why can't technology work for me, why do I have to work for it, even after paying cash for a product.

The player has an issue connecting and staying connected to the internet. Why can't insignia create a troubleshoot page to self diagnose. Almost every company that makes a product that is operated by modern technology; software and firmware can go to th

"Piece of junk! I give it zero stars."

Worked 2 1/2 months, then when you tried to turn it on, it wouldn't stay on, it just powered off again. Took it back to Best Buy, with the receipt, they said "oh, you didn't pay for EXTRA warranty, call Insignia". Called Insignia, was within the 365...

Umm....yeah. Still thinking. Let me get back to you on that one.

Piece of junk. Broke after 2 1/2 months, takes excessively long time to start up (that was before it broke), menus are fuzzy, no firmware upgrades available, doesn't read all discs on the first try.
