The TomTom XL 325 SE represents good value for money with the features it offers. The maps of the US come preloaded, and updates are always available. It is great for road trips, so read on for an in-depth review.

TomTom XL 325-S

The TomTom XL 325S is an entry level 4.3” wide-screen device in the TomTom line up. It includes preloaded maps of the entire United States along with text-to-speech, so you'll hear “turn right, Oak Street,” instead of just “turn right.”

TomTom XL 325 SE

The TomTom XL 325 SE (Walmart) is identical to the TomTom ONE 125 SE, except that it has a 4.3” wide-screen, instead of the 125 SE's smaller 3.5” screen. Both models include text-to-speech, so you'll hear “turn right, Oak Street,” instead of just “turn...

TomTom XL 325

The TomTom XL 325 is an entry level 4.3” wide-screen device in the TomTom line up. It includes preloaded maps of the entire United States.

These units are basically striped down versions of the XL 340 series, which adds maps of Canada and IQ Routes, TomTom's historical road speed database, which can result in improved routing, especially in areas with traffic problems.

Widescreen, entry-level GPS

The XL adds a larger display to the already fantastic ONE unit. The new EasyPort mount and TomTom's Map Share feature make this an enticing unit.

Slimline design, 4.3in widescreen, ease of use, EasyPort mount, TomTom HOME software, Map Share, Help Me! safety menu

No included AC adapter

TomTom XL 250 (2013)

TomTom's budget GPS offers simple navigation if that's what you're after, but you'll need some patience to go with it.

Simple map layout ; Small size means it's very portable

Very slow to get GPS lock ; Very slow to re-route ; Screen reflectivity is an issue in bright light ; No lifetime maps

If you do want and need a GPS on a regular basis, it's fast becoming apparent that it's worth spending the little bit extra for a full-fat GPS solution rather than skimping and getting something that's less than optimal. The XL 250 isn't terrible; it's...

It gets you where you need to go....sometimes ”

I'm not convinced there's a "good" GPS on the market, but this one is as functional as any. It gets me to my destinations, but not always with the fastest or most direct route. It can't take into account the speed traffic is moving at, so the arrival...
