TomTom XL Live

The TomTom XL Live Europe (£220 inc. VAT) is a mid-range satellite-navigation device that's crammed with features.

Feature-packed ; Easy to follow

Traffic updates cost a fair bit

Unfortunately the Live package is only provided free for three months, after which you'll have to pay £8 per month or £80 annually. If you're a frequent driver, then the ability to avoid congestion will pay for itself but, for most users, the extra...

TomTom XL Live IQ Routes Europe satnav review

Last year we saw the excellent HD Traffic system incorporated into TomTom's high-end devices, but with the XL Live, we now see the same offering at a much more affordable price. It's a move that makes sense, because the Go models can be a little...

Build quality, excellent navigation, HD Traffic

A little on the expensive side

You do pay a little more for TomTom, but we'd rather spend the money and reap the benefits, than save a little and spend our holidays sitting in traffic

Navigation with extra internet services

Useful traffic system, clear display and instructions

Annoyingly ponderous rerouting

A good navigator with a great traffic information system

TomTom XL LIVE IQ Routes Edition Sat-Nav

James takes a look at the TomTom XL, now featuring the LIVE system.

It's great to see LIVE already filtering down to less pricey members of TomTom's sat-nav range. But with the subscription costing the same this isn't yet LIVE for the masses. We can't really criticise TomTom for wanting to maximise its income and not...

TomTom XL LIVE IQ Routes edition

The TomTom XL LIVE IQ Routes edition comes with connection to the latest real-time route information, including TomTom HD Traffic, Road Angel Safety Camera Alerts, Local Search with Google and Fuel Prices. It also has a 4.3-inch touchscreen, EasyPort...

Want high-end TomTom goodness packed into an affordable satnav shell? The TomTom XL LIVE IQ Routes edition delivers on both counts. Firstly by packing in the excellent Live services, and secondly with the low, low price. Take it out the box and you're...

We say the TomTom XL LIVE IQ Routes edition ischeap. And it is. But once you whack on that extra £7.99 per month for LIVE services you sort of start wishing that there were a few more extras thrown into your satnav for good measure (Bluetooth for phone...

The TomTom XL LIVE IQ Routes edition is an excellent satnav from the Dutch master (and we're not talking Johan Cruyff). Good styling + good navigation + good price + good satnav.

Tom Tom XL Live

Often as part of my tests of a Satellite Navigation system I take it for a ride on a bus or train, sometimes both. It gives you a chance to see exactly what is shown on the screen and indeed this can be extremely interesting.

In this case I did neither as I could initially find no way to turn off (or even reduce the volume of the speaking voice) and without this ability I would be very unpopular on either mode of transport. Only later did I find the preference screen that...

TomTom XL LIVE IQ Routes edition review

With the TomTom XL LIVE, the Dutch direction maestro's are trying to combine the best of both worlds. The latest version of TomTom's widescreen satnav comes with a low-end price, but the high-end, up to the minute live services of the more costly GO...

Realtime info, god-like dashboard holder

No Bluetooth for handling calls

Strikes a great balance between price and feature bundle

Tom Tom Via Live works well

Bought this to replace an ageing TomTom One, as I had a few journeys planned both at home and in Spain. This one fitted the bill perfectly. It worked straight out of the box, came at least part charged, plugged it into My TomTom for any updates and it...
