Microsoft Surface Earbuds hands-on review

Microsoft's got a brand new bag with its own pair of fully wireless earbuds, dubbed the Surface Earbuds. Ostensibly AirPods competitors, the Earbuds put their own spin on wireless sound, including a new way to interact with Microsoft software,...

Microsoft’s Surface Headphones are a good first try

Microsoft made a solid first attempt at building high-quality noise-cancelling headphones. These are comfortable and fit on even the biggest heads. Just beware that Cortana integration seems to entail a trade-off in battery life.

Comfortable ; Adjustable noise-canceling ; Easy-to-use controls

No real need for Cortana integration ; Short battery life compared to Bose and Sony

Surface Headphones review: Microsoft's first noise-canceling headphones are almost great

Microsoft's premium noise-canceling headphones stack up pretty well against leading models from Bose and Sony, but could cost a little less.

The Microsoft Surface Headphones are comfortable to wear, sound good, have touch controls and on-ear dials that allow you to adjust the level of noise canceling and volume. The always-on Cortana feature allows you to use voice commands without pressing...

Sound could be better for the price, and battery life doesn't measure up to that of competing models. Cortana isn't as good as Alexa and Google Assistant.

The Surface Headphones don't quite match Bose and Sony noise-canceling headphones, but they're a strong freshman effort with some compelling feature and design elements.

Microsoft Surface Headphones review: all the style without the polish

Simple in look and sophisticated in function but suboptimal in practice

Ingenious control dials ; Stylish look and premium feel ; Shockingly good wireless performance ; Excellent noise canceling

Some comfort issues ; Uncompetitive battery life ; Lacking support for AptX, AAC, or LDAC for higher-quality sound ; Sound lacks refinement and treble energy

As to whether you should own a pair for yourself, that depends. I still feel drawn toward these headphones, I enjoy listening to my music with them, and I’m constantly impressed by the speed with which they connect to my devices and the rock-solid...

Microsoft Surface Headphones Review: An Excellent Debut

Despite not rising to the standard set by Bose and Sony, the Microsoft Surface Headphones is a pleasant surprise with solid sound and noise cancellation.

All things considered, if you want future-proof headphones with dependable noise cancelling and strong audio performance, the $350 Surface Headphones are a noteworthy pickup. Just know that for the same price, you can get better ANC and sound from the...

Microsoft's Surface Headphones Sound Like Disappointment

I'll say one thing about the new Microsoft Surface Headphones. They're pretty, especially if you like the color grey. I'll tell you a few other things. The Cortana features are frustrating. The noise-canceling tech is basically fine. The ear cups...

Microsoft Surface Headphones review

Bringing bass to the Surface

Brilliant sound quality ; Effective noise cancellation ; Intuitive controls

Design won’t appeal to all ; Sound may be too warm for some

Microsoft’s first crack at over-ear headphones is ultimately as impressive and stylish as all of Microsoft’s hardware. We were very impressed with the active noise cancellation and sound quality of these headphones, although the design may polarize...

Surface Headphones review: Is Microsoft's first bash at over-ear cans any good?

Intuitive rotational dial controls are the pièce de résistance here, while good sound quality and noise-cancelling show Microsoft has big potential.

Great sound quality with ample bass and loud output ; Comfortable for long periods of wear ; Noise-cancelling capable without going to vacuum-like levels ; Dial controls on earcups are neatly integrated and function well

Noise-cancelling is over complex and lacks information - distinctive modes would be better ; Stronger noise-cancelling mode is absent ; App and sound profiles lack ; Do we really want Windows logos on headphones?

The Surface cans offer big sound and great, while the rotational controls around the earcups are the pièce de résistance. However, we'd like more distinctive noise-cancelling modes and sound profiles to really set these bland-looking but great-sounding...

Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 review

“Microsoft steps up by pricing down”

Outstanding noise-cancelling ; Big, controlled and detailed sound ; Comfortable even over extended periods

Tentative high-frequency reproduction

Sonic improvements and a stiff price reduction make Microsoft’s wireless active noise-cancellers a much more mainstream proposition than before
