Asus N55SF Review: Bright, Fast, and Booming

While the Asus N55SF may not be the speediest desktop replacement laptop that PCWorld has ever tested, it's still darn fast. It also offers good gaming frame rates, and delivers considerably better-than-average sound and video. At only $1249 (as of...

Good all-around performance, including on games ; Better-than-average screen and sound

On the pricey side ; Middling battery life

Excellent performance and multimedia features make this desktop replacement a nearly perfect dorm room companion.

Asus N55SF-A1

The laptop's standout feature is its audio system, developed through a partnership with Bang & Olufsen ICEpower. Two huge speakers are situated right above the keyboard, belting out crisp audio and boosting volume levels beyond those of the Dell 15z...

Sweet sounds from its Bang & Olufsen ICEpower speakers. Quad-core processor. Top-notch Nvidia gaming chip. Awesome screen resolution. Two USB 3.0 ports. Great typing experience

Thick and chunky. Mouse buttons are stiff. Subwoofer is an external attachment

The Asus N55SF-A1 is one of the best-sounding desktop replacement laptops in the business, thanks to some fine audio tuning and speaker hardware from Bang & Olufsen ICEpower. Its internal parts even outperform most of its peers in speed and gaming tests.

Asus N55SF Notebook Review

Yet another notebook, or so I thought….. well it sure is yet another notebook if you're just browsing the Internet or doing office productivity work but when it comes to audio output, it really blew me away!

Overall if you're looking for something light and slim, this is not the notebook for you. Go for an ultrabook instead.

big highs, low lows: disappointed

This laptop has a lot of really good qualities that would make most, if not all consumers happy. However, there are many small and annoying inadequacies that this laptop has that should not be present in a laptop of this caliber. It seems that some of...

Clean look ; Chiclet keyboard ; LED lit keyboard ; Above average graphics cards ; Dual graphics card (Intel HD 4000 / Nvidia GeForce GT 620m) ; Plenty of hard drive space (750 gb) ; 8gb RAM ; Decent battery life

Monitor dims during regular use unless plugged to wall ; Immense amount of bloatware (typical of any new laptop) ; Speakers have horrible sound quality (severely low quality compared to rest of high quality components) ; Does not automatically detect...
