Sony VAIO VPC-F115FM/B review: Sony VAIO VPC-F115FM/B

Sony VAIO VPC-F115FM/B

Blu-ray; solid graphics; 1080p display; Core i7 processor for affordable price.

Less than 2 hours of battery life; mediocre speakers.

With great processing power, Blu-ray, and a 1080p display for $1,349, the Sony Vaio VPCF115FM/B is one of the best high-end all-around laptops we've seen in a while.

DO NOT BUY THIS COMPUTER!!

After this laptop started overheating, which by the way caused 2nd degree burns to my legs, I contacted customer service. They gave me the run around until the warranty ran out then they finally sent me a box to send it to the repair shop in...

It works for about 3 months.

This computer overheats within 4 months of purchasing.

Very Nice Laptop

Screen size, processing with multiple apps running, number pad keyboard, resolution, hdmi output. This thing does whatever I want to do and doesn't flinch. My home pc is a AMD quad core with Vista Ultimate 64 bit with 8 GB ram and this seems to out...

The touchpad isn't centered on the laptop only the keyboard. However given the times I've touched it with my hand while typing and messed up, it would probably be worse if not centered on the keyboard. Have to sit offcenter a bit to type due to number...

Sweet laptop

If you buy this thing, I echo RJ's review, you must absolutely hit the S1 key to get at the sony display settings. By default it tries to detect the ambient light and adjusts the brightness. Incredibly annoying to have the screen dim when you put your...

The specs say it all

The factory default display brightness. Simply clicking Fn-F6 will NOT get you the highest possible brightness. See "Other thoughts

Great Desktop Replacement!

Make system restore disks as soon as possible. I am not experiencing the buzzing sounds that others are experiencing... yet anyway. Best buy had one with 1 gb video ram, a model 115 instead of 114. But i am very happy i went with Newegg!!! I almost...

Have had this computer for about 3 hours now, setup was easy, updates where easy, Google chrome flies, Blue Ray play back is awesome, Keys are not clanky at all - very quiet. Very Clear display and slick design. Seems amazing so far

NO CD's, seems typical when you buy a computer lately. Make system disks ASAP

Love Sony Laptops

I'm afraid that this laptop is going to last me too many years like the last Sony I had, which is going to cause me embarrassment around the office when I have to admit, yeah, my laptop is 4 years old, and my wife won't let me get a new one because...

I had a Sony F-series laptop for 4 years, and the thing wouldn't die. So when I finally needed to upgrade (due to the necessity of upgrading my software development software to the newest version), I decided to checkout what Dell and Lenovo had to...

Two things...I was disappointed with the brightness of the screen on this model. I bought this machine at Fries, and I didn't realize that there was another model (for $150 more) with the true HD brighter screen. My old F-series laptop, which I...

Nice! Love Backlit Keyboard

Be sure to press the S1 button after you get past the Windows setup so that you can set the Sony specific options like the auto brightness for the screen and similar settings.

Nice finish, layout, comfort, usability, speed & light. Really glad I chose this over the Toshiba. There is none of the shiny surface issues or discomfort from hands sticking to the surface. Screen is really beautiful especially after I turned off the...

No button to turn off touch pad, No brightness adjustment for the keyboard backlight

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Minor flaws... great product though!

Make your back-up before you remove anything... some of the bloatware proves useful and it's almost impossible to get again once you've uninstalled it.

Great graphics for the price - and RAM. Sony still has a ton of bloatware... but it's easy to remove. i7's rule... invest now and save time - be efficient

Not liking the usb ports on the right side of the laptop... in small areas, they get in the way of mouse usability - and there aren't any usb ports on the left. The mousepad should be located in the center of the keyboard - no one sits centered to the...
