Sony VAIO NR review

Sony VAIO NR160E/W

Least expensive VAIO laptop yet; keeps Sony's excellent laptop keyboard, plus extras such as an Express Card slot.

Looks and feels noticeably cheaper than more expensive VAIOs, loaded down with performance-killing bloatware.

Kudos to Sony for releasing the sub-$1,000 VAIO NR160. It's a perfectly functional, budget 15-inch laptop--we just wish it didn't stray so far from the excellent industrial design of the company's more expensive systems.

Sony VAIO NR Review

The VAIO NR is available in three colors (brown, white, and silver) with a full range of Intel processors (from the 1.46GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2310 to the 1.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5450) starting at $799. The only screen offering is the...

Very nice looks with a variety of colors you can choose ; Acceptable Intel processors and up to 4GB of RAM provide plenty of system performance ; Screen has excellent horizontal viewing angles ; Solid build quality and sturdiness (with the exception of...

Unacceptable amount of battery wiggle (design flaw) ; Too much bloatware installed ; Screen has bad vertical viewing angles ; Flat keyboard keys and lack of some dedicated keys ; AV Mode doesn't work

Overall, the Sony VAIO NR is a genuinely impressive notebook for Sony, in no small part thanks to the low selling price. That said, there is room for improvement

Sony VAIO VGN-NR11S laptop

It's not hard to be impressed with Sony's notebook style, as the machines are as innovative as they are good looking. Except for the budget notebooks, which have tended to be a little too basic for our liking. However, the Sony VAIO VGN-NR11S has...

Great screen, amazing battery life

Not the best spec for the price

In every day use, we found the Sony VAIO VGN-NR11S to be a highly pleasing machine to use. The screen is excellent, as is the keyboard and if you can live with the less than cutting-edge processor and graphics this is a great notebook for the home.

Sony Vaio NR11 Z laptop PC

If you want an affordable and attractive laptop that doesn’t cut back on performance, you won't go far wrong with the Sony Vaio NR11 Z. With the exception of a low gaming framerate score and a slightly washed out display, we like the usability,...
