3DConnexion SpaceNavigator Personal Edition

Quick, call Maxwell Smart. We've identified a KAOS plot aimed at destroying American worker productivity. Now thanks to 3DConnexion, that evil plot to have 90 percent of Americans flying all over the globe using Google Earth—instead of working — just...

Cheap, comes preconfigured for common multimedia apps, Google Earth

Not particularly useful for other apps; not programmable

That limitation is ultimately what really hurts the SpaceNavigator PE. While we appreciate the fact that this type of device cost $300 two years ago, a controller whose main commercial appeal is limited to Google Earth and a few other apps is of...

Logitech 3D Connexion SpaceNavigator Personal Edition...

The computer mouse suddenly looks old hat thanks to 3D Connexion's SpaceNavigator 3D navigation device. Best4Reviews puts it to the test and finds out what it's like to use.

Easy and intuitive to use, build quality, Fun

Takes a while to get used to the device. Not for everyone

The 3D Connexion Space Navigator Personal Edition is easy to use and set up and with practice and some tweaks in the system’s preferences, it quickly becomes natural and intuitive to use. I can’t help thinking it may not be for everyone and that the...

3Dconnexion 3DX-700034

While the profile is smaller than it's desktop cousins, it is still a very tall profile for most mobile accessories. I would trade a lower profile for a larger footprint on this any day. I would also carefully consider the wireless desktop version as...

I loved the desktop version so much, I decided to purchase one for my mobile workstation. I simply cannont do my CAD/CAM work without one now! The travel pouch is great addition as well, and a thoughtful touch

Occasionally wanders while using it in MasterCAM X7, have not tried it yet in the new X8. Locks the program out while it is doing this (I believe this to be on MC's side, though)

Like a third hand...

I love it and wish I could afford the more expensive one. However, this model is ridiculously cheap for what it does and the quality of components and feel. I'm so happy this exists, and it's tiny, and works well. I can take it with me to drafting...

Great customization. The default settings were completely jacked/backwards for autocad, but after I inverted everything and switched a couple assignments around, it worked perfectly..if there were something more than perfect, I would use that word to...

It has some issue where it switches the background to black, I had to go into settings and set all the views to standard white background no matter what. This device was essentially causing autocad to enter a very specific isometric view-mode when...

Not Ergonomic

Older "spaceball" from this mfg was much better for large hands and can be used for hours daily without a problem.

Great for CAD and 3D applications. Once you use one for CAD you'll never want to use keyboard shortcuts or control the view with a regular mouse again

Controller is too small for larger hands. When used several hours a night it starts to cause hand pain

I can't praise the SpaceNavigator highly enough!

I make a lot of images in Second Life ; the SpaceNavigator has given me the control of the camera that I've always craved but never had until now. It's totally changed my Second Life experience ; Tip to Second Life members: Set one of the buttons on...

Amazingly simple

Takes a little while to get used to, but once you are it saves a noticeable amout of time and energy, I've only had mine for a week and I already consider it to have paid its self off.

Amazingly solid and simple. Good clean driver with easy options to fallow (I invert nearly everything). Works great with SolidWorks 8, Maya, AutoCAD, etc

The buttons are about pointless

Love it

Great value!

These are very well built and very useful. I'm glad a co-worker had talked me into getting one (and asking work to pay for it) ; I had carpal tunnel from using my mouse so much (Mechanical Engineer doing non-stop 3D design work). The space navigator...

Like another user mentioned, the two built in buttons are stiff and pretty much worthless. No big deal, the buttons aren't why I bought it in the first place

Worth its weight in gold (solidworks)

I am an avid FPS but if you plan on using it for gaming then I would prob pass. It has full 3d movement (ie. up, down, pan left right up down and full tilt functions) so for any current FPS it cannot utilize these advance functions to their full...

I hooked it up, loaded the drivers and whahla! Extremely impressive. I have only been out of school for a year (Mech. Eng WAR EAGLE) and I already have a great appreciation for this tool. I have not used it in Pro E. or Autocad Inventor but for...

wish it was wireless. I hate wires cluttering my workspace. (us engineers are perfectionists)

not for long hours

Great quality. Works as advertised

This unit is flawed in ergonomic design ; Due to the height at which the main controller part is off of the desk, the wrist has to be angled up at a very unnatural angle during operation. This makes using this device for long periods of time (i.e....
