Insignia Pilot with Bluetooth (8GB) review

By Jasmine France (cnet.com)

The Insignia Pilot is an incredible value for a media player, and it's packed with features: Bluetooth, FM radio, line-in recording, photo and video support, and Rhapsody DNA Integration. It plays back a wide variety of audio formats and is compatible ...

The Insignia Pilot's sound quality is only so-so, and it's on the large side for a flash player.

The Insignia Pilot won't please audio purists, but it's a great option for feature hounds who appreciate a good value--and the ability to listen to music sans wires.

"Look ma, no wires!"

Simple interface, simple to add music-since I have my music organized in Windows, Bluetooth is awesome with good range, FM radio allows me to listen to PRI and sports events, universal mini-USB cable works with other devices, low cost.

The dial wheel does feel a little cheap, but who cares at these prices. The sound quality with the headphones seemed weak, but my bluetooth headphones are amplified so no problem.

Contrary to the CNET review, the sound is actually BETTER than my old iPod. For what they would have charged to fix the iPod, I got this 8 MB player with video, bluetooth, FM radio, etc. LOTS of features and well-designed. My Mac sees it as a HD.

iTunes compatibility would've been nice, but I can understand how it'd also get in the way.
