Brother MFC-8950DW

Although nearly identical in most ways to the Brother MFC-8910DW that I recently reviewed, the Brother MFC-8950DW , offers enough extra to be easily worth the extra cost. The key additions are a higher paper capacity, making it suitable for even...

Prints, scans, copies, and faxes. Duplex (two-sided) printing and duplex scanning. Touch-screen controls

Output quality is no better than par across the board. Speed is similarly acceptable but unimpressive

The Brother MFC-8950DW can serve as a heavy-duty mono laser MFP in a micro or small office, with excellent paper handling and the convenience of touch-screen controls.

Brother MFC-8950DW

In a world where inexpensive color printers—laser and inkjet alike—abound, it's hard to get excited about black-and-white multifunction laser printers, unless they hit a striking new price low. Many small offices and workgroups may not even see the...

Good output quality ; Fast ; Easy to set up and use ; Includes an auto-duplexing ADF

A bit pricey for a mono-only laser with this feature mix ; Slightly high cost per page, especially after first 30,000 pages

This high-volume monochrome multifunction printer is fast and prints well, though it's a touch pricey for the feature set and consumables. It's a strong business-document machine overall.

Not dependable

I am reluctant to buy new toner or a new drum only to find out that the problem is still there. I have looked at the Brother trouble shooting web site. It's not very helpful. "Replace toner or drum". Please. How about a little more technical...

fast warm up for a laser, great speed, loads of copy & print options. I bought this for my classroom. It seemed to be a better option than fighting for one of the two printers in the building. It networked easily. Getting 200 copies fast and close was...

The printer worked well for a couple of months. Now it's output is fettered with narrow black lines across the page every 1/2 inch or so. I removed the toner and shook it and moved that little green tab on the back to dislodge any clumped toner. I...

Short life span

I disliked that Brother only offers the Last Firmware on the support page. In my case, I would like the option of flashing older firmware to see if one of them might work better for us.

when it works, works well

Post warranty support is pretty poor. Only options given for troubleshooting slow and abnormal behavior was replace the motherboard and/or memory ; We used this unit for about 24-36 months. The last 6 months of its time in production, we fought bouts...

Brother puts other brands to shame

Like many of you, I got tired of paying for junk products and getting ripped off buying over-priced factory toner cartridges. In all due fairness my Samsung does work well with generic cartridges, but is much slower than the Brother.

I own three laser printers, two HP Laserjets and a Samsung. Hewlett Packard is overpriced junk, my Samsung does a good job, but the Brother is the most outstanding laser printer that I have ever used or owned. It is lightning fast and quiet, and it...

Perfect AIO for small office heavy use

Perfect all in one for a high use, small office\/ retail. Very intuitive to use and w\/ the 780 high cap toner and the simple to replace drum unit makes this the best laser mono AIO in it\'s class imo.

Great Printer, can\'t use in home office

The printer would be great if you have higher than 15 Amp circuit breaker in your house. My home office only has 15 Amp, when the printer boots up. Blows the circuit breaker every time. It even blew out my computer power supply when it turned on. It...

Perfect Replacement for My Office Printer

I purchased this to replace our old office printer. The first toner included in box box is a standard yeild toner and runs out quick but prints much more when you replace with the high yeild toner. The automatic document feed works quickly without...

Very fast, flexible, sophisticated device.

The MFC-8950DW has heavy current draw when starting up so that it can start fast and have high throughput; a good electrical system (e.g., 25 amp circuit, UPS for computers on the same circuit) is needed. However, It really pumps the pages through when...

Great Product-lousy warranty service

I purchased this printer about a year ago--I love this MFC-print/scanner. The duplex scanning is awesome. Only issue I have is not with the product but with the Brother Service/Warranty. When I got the printer there was an issue with ADF popping open...
