Sanyo PLV-Z3000

The front projection category continues to grow and become more affordable to the masses. These days you can get a decent 1080p front projector for cheaper than most 60-inch plasma TVs. Of course, you do have the additional cost of a screen to factor...

Accurate color decoding; solid connectivity; well-rounded feature package with horizontal and vertical lens shift

Inaccurate primary colors bring down the overall color fidelity; not very bright

Sanyo's affordable 1080p front projector has its share of flaws, but still represents a good value in its category.

Sanyo PLV-Z 3000

The Sanyo PLV-Z 3000 is a Full HD, LCD projector. On the market since early 2009, Sanyo's flagship home-theater model offers deep blacks and attractive contrast and is available online for around 1,650 GBP.

Versatile positioning ; Plenty of useful picture controls ; High contrast ; Barely any judder in movie playback (at 24 and 60 Hz)

Inaccurate colors in the factory setup ; Not particularly bright ; Average de-interlacing of standard TV

This projector is a bit like a rough diamond: Only when you give it the necessary polish does it begin to shine, producing a contrast-rich movie picture with authentic colors; the factory setup is barely suitable for home-theater, and requires...

Sanyo PLV-Z3000 LCD Projector

Sanyo has long been a big player in the business projector market. However, while it has a serious presence in home projectors in many markets, it has remained relatively low key for U.S. consumers. This is especially true when you compare it with...

The Sanyo also has small access holes and a manual air blower for clearing dust particles that might fall on the imaging chips and cause shadows on the screen. This problem is rare in my experience, but the Sanyo is the only one of these projectors...

Sanyo PLV-Z3000 Review

Not only does this projector offer improved contrast over last year's popular Z2000, but the big news is that it is the first home theater projector under $10,000 to offer 5:5 pulldown.

The extra-quiet fan is great

Brightness level is not the best

The price is low for a high contrast.

Very happy with my first front projector.

I basically agree with Mr Miller's review, except I would not put as much weight on the Z3000's color accuracy. Could it be better? Yes. Is it noticeable? Sometimes. Is it a distraction from enjoying your favorite BD or DVD? Not to me. The 2:1 zoom and...

Great projector for the price. Great warranty (3 yrs). Easy setup. Sharp Image. Bright enough for most screens < 100". Quite fan. Frame Interpolation

Color accuracy could be better

Projector wears out before 2 years, DO NOT BUY!!!

I owned this projector, which was not bad. I had to replace the bulb twice which costs an additional $700. After less than 2 years, the blue polarizer burnt out and the entire middle of the screen took on an ugly yellow/greenish cast. Made it...

Cool sliding door to protect lens

Polarizer wears out before 2 years, causing yellow/green tint to everything, and they won't repair it
