Logitech Harmony 650

Logitech has cranked out quite a crew of Harmony remotes over the years. All seem to handle well, control a decent amount of devices, and are unbelievably easy to program. So how can you pick which one is right for you? Well, if you're on a budget, the...

Cheapie McCheap ; Easy setup ; LCD "wakes up" upon pickup ; Comfortable layout

Not rechargeable ; No RF features ; 5-device limit ; Not compatible with Bluetooth-based products

Logitech’s least expensive universal remote lacks frills, but piles on value for basic home theater users.

Logitech Harmony 650 remote review

Fewer products are more appropriately named than the Logitech Harmony series of smart remotes. They do wonderful things to take home entertainment

Intuitive design ; (Relatively) affordable ; Extensive device database

Five device cap ; Dimly illuminated buttons ; No recharging circuitry

Logitech Harmony 650 Remote Control Review

We took a look at the Logitech Harmony 650, a universal remote control with interesting features.

Excellent ergonomic design ; Sturdy construction ; Excellent button layout ; Sensor turns it on when you pick it up ; Basic functions easily programmable ; Good color screen ; Batteries easily replaced

Time-consuming set up of logos for favorite channels ; Programming advanced functions a bit confusing ; Poor backlighting (Not all keys are backlit)

Logitech Harmony 650

If you're looking for a smart, all-inclusive remote, the Logitech Harmony 650 universal remote is here for you and here to make your life simpler. Yes, there are only five devices that can be programmed to the remote, but for those of us who do not...

The ergonomic shape feels as if the remote was molded to fit your hand perfectly

Logitech should have allowed more than five devices to be programmed

Five programmable activity buttons is just one of the features that you'll love on this universal remote.

Logitech Harmony 650

Logitech makes some of the best universal remote controls on the market, and the 650 is the perfect match mix of high-end features and affordability.

Comprehensive device database ; Good ergonomics ; Colour screen

Only five devices allowed ; Setup demands patience

Optimising these macros takes time and patience, and will likely require you to change the way you use your equipment. If you don't always use the Harmony 650 to switch devices on and off for instance, you'll come unstuck if a gadget uses a power...

Logitech Harmony 650

The latest Logitech Harmony series is one of the best universal remotes you can buy for less than AU$150.

Powerful universal remote with great ergonomics ; Colour LCD screen surrounded by five contextual buttons ; Web programmable via Windows or Mac PCs ; Excellent button layout and overall design ; Supports custom sequences/macros ; Price tag

Only controls five devices ; Requires internet-connected PC to program ; Adding favourite channel icons is a bit more difficult than it should be

Bad USB Port

I bought this to replace an e 250 that finally gave up the ghost after 4 years. This is my second one of this type. The USB port failed on the first one, no way to program it. I had it all setup and tried to add some more function when I found the USB...

Not a touch screen so my wife can use it ; Handles all 4 of my devices with full function on all devices ; Battery life is good, about 3 months ; Easy to setup with download software

Program on line does not have all the functionality as the download software ; USB port failed on my first one, so I could not reprogram the remote. The remote worked fine with my original settings, just could not add to it. This one works fine

First harmony remote I used and I'm positively impressed

I'm not sure if the infra red transmission time can be improved upon. I'm quite content with this remote, although if I'd be filthy rich I would probably try the ultimate remote ($350 MSRP). For 90% of homes this remote will do. You'll still need your...

Set up was a breeze: just downloaded the software on my Mac and hooked to remote via the standard USB cable. It seemed to know all my devices and I configured activities like watch TV, watch Apple TV, listen to music on Apple TV in no time ; Then I was...

Unfortunately because of the infra red technology you do have to keep the remote pointed towards your devices quite a bit of time. More than once some of the devices where either not turned on or not switched to the proper setting (input). It's usually...

Suitable replacement for my old 688

Works like it said it was supposed to. Fairly painless configuration through wizard-like set up. Worked first try with only minor tweaks required

My old login ID (from 10 years ago) was no longer in the system so I had to reconfigure all settings one device at a time. The setup program doesn't seem like it has as much control as it did before Logitech taking them over. For example it is harder...

Good Remote, but...

I would like to have the cable replaced, but apparently cannot send back only the cable; must also send the remote, which after substituting another cable is working fine.

Easy to program, once I figured out that the USB cable provided to connect with my PC was defective. Works well

Provided USB cable was defective and I spent a frustrating hour trying to connect with my PC to program the remote
