Review: Plustek AD450

The bland-looking Plustek AD450 may be slow and bulky, but it will scan ID badges and credit cards, which a lot of other portable scanners...

Scans one- or two-sided. Comes with software to scan business cards, scan to Word documents, PDFs, and more. Has a special feeder for scanning credit cards or plastic ID badges

Only compatible with Windows. Slow. Bulky. Software is complicated, with confusing interface. No built-in support for cloud services

Plustek MobileOffice AD450

The Plustek MobileOffice AD450 is well named, with office scanner features in a portable format.

Automatic document feeder. Duplexes. One-button scanning for common functions. Scans directly to searchable PDF format.

Rated at only 9 pages per minute (ppm) and 18 images per minute (ipm) in grayscale. Relatively heavy.

Boo!

I wish I could have gotten this to work because it was EXACTLY what I needed. I'm really disappointed.

Compact

My Macbook wouldn't recognize it (with drivers from PlusTek website). My Win7 tower and WinXP netbook wouldn't recognize it (with drivers from the cd provided and website)
